    Default Broken Mirror &@#$#@%&

    Hwy guys,

woke up this morning and the drivers side mirror was smashed.
I checked the mechanism still works and the housing is all intact. My question is can only the mirror be replaced or do i have to get a whole new mirror including the housing and all. any help and a place to get it done would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

yes, you can just replace the mirror itself without having to do the whole assembly.
its a PITA job though and i only managed to get my broken mirror-back off by fluke.
the repair manual tells you how to do it but it isnt very helpful.
i would suggest you try and find another complete unit and if it isnt the same colour then maybe have a shot at changing the mirror lense.

thanks for the info. Do you know a place that would cut the piece to suit it? would a normal glass/mirror place do it for me or is there a special car mirror place that i have to go to?

Go to Holmart.com.au and buy the mirror only. I think it is about $16. Not that hard to replace, especially if the current one is broken - easier to remove.

If it helps I think the series 1 vt had a simple foam insert, but the series 2 had a moulded rubber gromet. I replaced mine and i don't think i got it seated completely right, the rubber gromet makes it hard to do. I think if this is what you have, try and install the rubber mould/gromet first and then the mirror. this will all make sense when/if you do the replacement job.

Default Missing Side View rWindow Screw

Just bought a VX and the drivers side mirror bounces up and down while i drive because i'm missing one of the two screws underneath it on the exterior that holds it to the fixed part of the mirror.

problem is i can't seem get a screw that will go into the hole and screw down. Anyone know what size/length/thread this is?

    Cheers, Jamie
