    Default VT Power Steering Pump

Hoping someone might have some advice as to what I should do here:
Not being a mechanical minded person, I was told when I had my VT serviced recently that the power steering pump was leaking & I needed to have it replaced (for the tidy sum of $350).
Now even though I'm not car smart, I do know that you can always get things fixed cheaper so this what I did:
Bought a reconditioned one elsewhere for $125 & then took it somewhere else to have it installed for $60.
But now I've just come home & taken a look & realized the bast***s haven't fitted the reconditioned one at all!
Where my new pump should be is still the old grotty one, they didn't even bother to clean it to make it look like it was the new one.
What should I do, go in there & blast them & see what happens from there or is there any action I can take to get these rip-offs in some serious trouble?
I was so astounded by what they've done (& not being mechanically-minded), it took me an hour to convince myself as to where the power steering pump actually is. I just couldn't believe the nerve as to what they've done.

what do you think you should do?
    nothing?

what you should do is go back and TALK to them about what you believe has happened and find out what they intend to do about rectifying the situation.

theres no reason to go in guns out screaming and shouting - that achieves jack all.
for alll you know, the new guy might have got the job of changing it and for some reason known to him only, decided not to do it and told the boss he did.

First, contact Consumer affairs, explain what you think has happened, get there advice. You are going to have someone in authority on your side, or you could be made to look dumb by these people if you go back waving your arms about.
Had a simular thing done to me once, had an engine rear main leak fixed begrudgingly under warranty by a well known Holden after market dealer, several years later, I noticed there was only one bolt holding the starter motor in, when I pulled the starter out,I saw it was one from an older model, just about clapped out. The bast##ds had done a swap with my stronger later model one. Too late then to go back, management had all changed.

go to the place of repair FIRST and discuss it with them.
if they dont come to the party - then go to consumer affairs.

Yeah I understand what you're saying & in all likelihood that's what I will do (for my better interest).
But it's just that I know these pricks will more than likely come up with some poor sorry excuse & probably rectify it without any conflict, which still lets them off though.
I just can't get over the nerve of them.

    Thanks.

Just to let you know in future (and its a common problem with VT power steering pumps), if you observe an oil leak from the power steering pump - a drop in power steering fluid level in the reservoir is a good indication, its most likely that the seal requires replacing...this costs about $100-$150 inc labour, parts and new steering fluid. Its very unlikely the pump itself needs replacing unless it is damaged...and any commercial mechanic will be able to fix that pretty easily - Holden servicing tends to make a meal out of everything in my experience.

Fair Trading won't do shit to help you. Go in there and demand they fix it in front of you. If they don't, squirt liquid nails into the grooves of all their doors so they can't open the next day. As the mechanics say "prove it"!
