Hi allOld member, long time no poster :P
I have 2 issues with the c/c in my WH currently.
1) Pretty much since I got it (about 2 years), whenever the engine was under load the air con would divert to blowing warm outside air via the demister ports and only go back to normal once it was no longer under load. Fine for normal acceleration but if you boot it up a hill then it will always go screwy, very easy to reproduce and very predictible.
2) More recently, and possibly getting slowly worse, is that sometimes the fans will refuse to blow unless it is set to the highest setting. Doesn't matter if it's on auto or manual fan setting, will only blow on the highest setting. Sometimes turning the fan onto high and flicking back to auto will get it working again, but just as often it won't do it. This one seems to be completely at random.. some trips you won't see it at all, some trips you spend the whole time with it manually set to high fan...
Any tips would be greatly appreciated![]()
Driving a CURSED WH V6.
the vent issue is the vacuum solenoid that sits under your cd player inside the dash the little box with all the tubes comming out the back, $130 for a new one at holden will fix that issue.
The fan speed issue is the fan resistor it's located in the plenum chamber, under the plastic under your windscreen wipers, there are two different fan resistors, one for climate control models and ones with normal controls. Depending on your model cost will vary for replacement. If you have a climate control model and your handy with a soldering iron you can fix it up yourself for around $20, there's a thread on this forum about fixing the fan speed resistor yourself.
