    Default Air-Con Smokey mist

I've got something coming out of my aircon on my vt, it looks like a smokey mist and it happens every morning, but not in the afternoon. It looks pretty bad, but it doesnt affect driving or anything.
My car is at 500,000kms so i dont care if the aircon goes, as long as it doesnt wreck my engine etc.
does anyone know whats worng with my aircon?

most likely nothing wrong mate. mines done that a few times looks kinda cool when the suns gleaming in and a mist is pouring out the vents on cold

does the mist continually come out for the duration of the a/c being on or only for a few seconds?

if its a leak, and the air coming out isnt cold.... its a gas leak :P

I had this happen to my VT and I found that if you lift the PLENUM from the passenger side in front of the WINDSCREEN you will find a wire grid and if you remove it you will see an AIR VENT closed .Give it a tap and it should open .PROBLEM SOLVED Also DO NOT use RECYCLING air when there are smokers in the car .IT IS A NO NO .LET US KNOW HOW GO

well theres no smokers ever in my car, but i think the constant flow of a misty smoke is a bit more smokey than just a little aircon puff. the aircon is bit weak but it alway has been even after re-gassing, so i dont think it needs to be regassed, so im a bit puzzled.
I should mention this did happen to me about 3 years ago. the mechanic fixed it, but i dont remember what it was, but i remember it was expensive at around $500 to fix, thats why im not keen on taking it in again just to fix aircon as i hope to get a newer commodore this year and sell mine as a bomb.
As i mentioned previously if it doesnt affect the engine or driving im happy just to let it go. but the smoke does look a little scary

if there is a leak- 99.99999% sure that all your gas will be lost
easiest way to tell if your a/c is out of gas, put your hand in the suction pipe to your compressor (there are 2 pipes on the a/c compressor- larger one is suction, smaller one discharge), while the a/c is running after a minute or 2 if its running correctly there should be a small bit of sweating along the pipework heading towards the firewall along the pipe. if its cold and sweating your gas charge is ok(within reason). hope that helps coz dont let mechanics take you for a ride and sell you their $100 regas service :P

My car is doing this at the moment, and I'm 99.9% sure it's due to the leaking heater core (which would cost around $500 to fix).

I also get badly fogged windows when using the heater, and there is a weird smell too.

when you get them to regas make sure they do a pressure test to see if you have any leaks, trust me i had aircon gas ****ing out of the o-rings on my compressor and i sometimes has a white smokey type mist that came out of the air con turned out to be the stuff they use to compress the cooling stuff that makes your aircon work.
