Default Radius rod bush spacers ?

Just finished installing a set of adjustable Nolathane radius rod bushes in my VX Executive S2.

I removed the old driver's side one, and there was large washer/ spacer behind the old bush assembly. I removed the old bush and washer and installed the new bush according to the instructions that came with it (set to give stock castor setting).

Went to do the other side, and there was no washer / spacer . This was done on a clean garage floor, so it didn't just fall off without being seen. Wasn't on the ledge inside the chassis either. Definitely no washer.

My question is - Do they normally have washers / spacers in this location ? Or more to the point, is it normal for one side to have a washer and one side to not have one ?

Is this simply a way to adjust castor ?

Is it to set the car up with different castor settings on each side of the car ?

I've had the car since it had 40,000 klms and the radius rod bushes haven't been touched since I've had the car so I doubt its due to someone previously forgetting to replace one of them.

I ended up taking the driver's side bush out again and refitting it with the washer as it previously was (as shown in attachment). I'll be getting a wheel alignment one day next week so any issues should show up then I guess.

I think from the DIY in the How to section, it comes off. Was it easier to do ti with car jacked up ? Some have said do it on ground etc..... Yes, one side is longer than the other. Kerb side is longer to compensate for shape of road.

Spacers are used from new to give a castor setting in the standard range. In my case I fitted the Nolathane bushes and had wheel alignment which indicated how far the castor was out. I then used the spacers that came with the kit to alter the castor to the setting I wanted.

My VX was the same . After i fitted the kit i noticed i only had 3 of the old washers on the floor . I ended up pulling the whole lot off again to check to see if i forgot to take one off but i didn't .Must be a thing with the VX caster

4 examples of different caster adjustment which can be
obtained with the Nolathane 48166 kit.
