    Default Misfire is back

    The story so far is

I bought a 3.8lt Vt Commie with a blown headgasket caused by poor maintenance, i dont think the water had ever been changed so the entire cooling system was pretty rusty, including the heater core. Needless to say, when i bought the car it wasnt running on all cylinders.

I replaced the headgasket first, along with the exhaust and intake manifold gaskets. I also replaced the heater core, removing the whole dash and re-installing.

A little after doing this a misfire popped up, only at idle and maybe up to 1500rpm, runs perfect otherwise

So i went through the problem solving process. The symptoms were those of a vacuum leak, so i checked all the hoses and gaskets for leaks. None to be found. I also sprayed everywhere with a silicon spray to see if i could get a change in the engine tune, to no avail. Also change the PCV valve and replaced the lines going from the throttle body to the back of the engine.

Next i went through the electrical system, changing the plugs, coils, ignition control module, icm plug and leads. Still no change so i gave up!

Then the plot thickened! The misfire disapeared, woohoo i thought.

Now randomly the misfire is back and seems to be more consistant than ever

    HELP!!!

i am no expert, but seeing that you have tryed all of that, is it possibly the memcal? try taking the battery off for a bit, and putting it back on to reset the chip and see what happens, worth a shot when your out of idea
