Hi guys I am in the middle of installing a new head unit and amplifier to my vx, problem is im doin my head in over the power antenna. I understand the seperate switch yo can put in but i have a antenna up and a antenna down wire which way do i use the both or do i just use one? I am powering the amp via the acc wire is that gonna be ok too??? Cmon I am blonde and need help!!!!!!
thats a wierd one for the antenna.. all the ones iv seen just have the one signal wire that hooks onto the remote cable on the headunit, so when the unit is on the antenna goes up. so someone else can help you with that.
But as for the powering of the amp, you have to have a 8 gauge or thicker cable, depending on the size of your amp, running from the battery to the boot, with an inline fuse at the battery end, then for the ground, run a cable from the amp to the body of the car. Then to finish run the blue trigger cable from the amp to the headunit, most likley the same cable that the antenna is connected to.
You just need to hook the "antenna up" wire to headunit... Thats what I did when I installed my headunit.
I remember having the same issue... the headunit had one remote wire but there are 2 wires for the antenna in the car.
But yeah, I just hooked the up to the remote wire and put a switch in it... otherwise your antenna will go up even if your listening to a cd...
Seemed to work... thought i wasn't running an amp...
Hope that helps.
