G'day all,
Just curious to know if anyone here is/has suffered the same issues as me, i own a 2001 VX series 1 Auto, and went for a long weekend cruise to Woolongong with a few mates and a few commodores, on the way back up the mountain my gearbox began slipping and really fighting to get into 2nd/3rd gears. I called my mechanic after stopping in Robertson who suggested to let it rest for half an hour or so to cool down(full of oil, in the HOT range), which i did, and it was still crook on the way home. now that im driving it around town again it seems to have come good.
My Mechanic has suggested these ideas
1) change gearbox oil/filters and throughly flush all the old oil out
and if that fails to improve my situation
2) reco gearbox?
am i being lead in the right direction?
many thanks.
EDIT:
more info on car:
im the 3rd owner, owned for approx a month. car has about 155000 k's, and has been used to tow a small caravan for some of its life (12-18mnths), complete with heavy duty towbar fitted and electric brakes.
