Hey guys, just bought a VT 2 Acclaim with auto transmission, just wondering roughly how much a conversion to manual trans would cost me, roughly?

Did this with my Dad last year. Cost $1300 for all the second hand parts. Then add up to $1100 for new flywheel/clutch kit (I highly recommend).

And add maybe another $1000-$1500 for labour if you can't do the work yourself. It's one of those pain in the arse jobs (took two mechanically apt individuals two days), then you may have things to iron out later on.

Drive around in the auto for a while!

I am thinking of getting my vt converted to a manual. I have a friend that has a crashed ss and would give me the gear box and the clutch kit for a cheep price. i also have some friends that are mechanics. my question is, will the vt ss gear box work in a vt Berlia v6, and would there be anything else that i would need from the manual car to put in mine. is it worth me to put a manual in, eg better for the car, more performance. Any help would be grate, thanks

It's going to be a lot harder to fit a V8 box. The bellhousing will be different, so you will need an adaptor, the flywheel won't bolt up the same, the crossmember will likely be different, and the tailshaft may not fit properly, so you will need to source all these parts and maybe have custom ones made.

You will also need a manual memcal, clutch pedal & brake pedal, master & slave cylinders, the gear stick, knob etc. And the biggest thing will be the manual wiring loom, which may not fit the v8 box!

And the V8 box has different ratios so you might need to get a new diff or diff gears to get it to drive nicely.

Not a project I'd be willing to take on...

or if you don't want to source all the adaptor plates etc, just put the v8 in as well. that would mean more performance.

WOW!, didnt think it was that big of a job.

I think i will just wait a bit and get myself a V8 with the manual alredy there.

Just finished converting mine. Took about 3 days. Had to replace computer bcm loom pedal box gearbox tailshaft gearbox mount support and master and slave cylinders. It's a pretty big job. The only way is to have every piece out of a car that has same engine as yours.
