Since I fixed my blown head gasket (bout 30 thousand k's ago), ive been getting the drive train light on, at the same hill, every day. It always come on when i take trips longer than 10 minutes.
I know it is one of my o2 sensors playing up. Thing is, its had that issue for ages.
Am I damaging something? Or just chewing through more petrol than I should? Im pretty damn lazy. thing is since the head I have -
done 3 services. 1 radiator flush, front brake pads replaced, machined front right brake surface, replaced heater vaccum valve and a few other minor things.
car runs great
Fuel guage works only 30% of the time. other 70% it stays on 'full'![]()
i used to drive with mine on all the time aswell and it never did anything, check all your vacuum hoses are connected one of mine wasnt then as soon as i reconnected it the light went off!
Hey mate, I have a V6 VT too, on long trips, over 3 hours, the engine light used to come on. After stopping for 10 mins it'd be sweet for a while before coming on again. All the oil/oil pressure was sweet. Until one day I realised that when the light came on, the car made a clunking noise and the rev's slightly raised.
I have left it as it only plays up every now and then but recently it has been happening all the time. I've spoken to my mechanic and he says its the TPS senson, the Throttle Position Sensor, which is also making the car wanna stall.. not sure if yours is also?
If it turns out its the TPS should be around $200 to fix, cheers, mines getting done next week
