Hi
When it rains and I go to open the boot of the VT water pours out of the the boot lid when I lift it right up and goes straight onto the inside mat of the boot, it never used to so i am assuming that its not draining or going where it should go. Can anyone give me any ideas on how to fix the problem it must be something simple.
Cheers
Megs

mine did the same down the bottom of the boot lid is that plastic thing i drilled some holes in it now it never fills up or gets the inside wet
their is a rubber seal that runs along the top of the garnish if thats not sealing it will leak aswell the 2 square seals that run on each side of the garnish make sure they are there if not you need to seal it with new ones or silicone.
hey my boot gets water in it aswell..
i been told the seals are fine and its something to do with the spoiler, been told to just silicon it up lol.
well mine ****ing does that it shits me to high heaven i don't have a spoiler though,...
what the fudge do i do to fix it??
yeah my vx used to do it its the seal on top of the garnish it goes hard in some spots
i have a spoiler, and i don't even have the top seal on the garnish, mine doesn't leak a drop, guess im just lucky, or its getting into somewhere real bad that i just can't see and one day will end badly
hey guys, got exactly the same problem. spare wheel well is full of water and it pi@ses me off everytime i open the boot lid, water pours out every where. What success have you had with drilling holes in the bottom plastic trim? or seal on top of red garnish?
Pictures of the holes would help everyone. Mine leaks too, no spoiler.

Yeah mine too rather chronically the water is inside the Calais garnish looks shi-ite too...
How do i fix it? Get a hair dryer and dry it out and re silicon the top in summer time ? 'No point in doing it now cos its too cold and wet, it wouldnt seal properly...
Yeah guys, i'm having this same problem with my VT II S...
Water seems to pour out of both sides of the boot when i open it.
yeh i seem to get the same on my VT II S....ive got a custom interior boot cover...and after i wash it or its been raining, water comes out from the left corner of the boot...its really sh*ting me.......when you guys say the garnish..wat exactly is that.....and is it someting i can just fix myself???
cheers
the boot garnish is the peice of plastic inbetween the rear lights.
it is the piece that holds the number plate there, sometimes the seals corrode and let water in, mine just had a crack in it and that's why mine was leaking..
i replaced mine for $60 delivered (from ebay) and ripped off the old one and put on the newer one, no more water anymore..
it's really easy to replace.. just search google, i found a website that explains what to do..should have kept it..
thanks heaps dude
ill see wat i can do so hopefully i jsut got the same issue you did...was it much messin around to put the new one on??
im just trying to find that internet site i had for it.. i will chuck it up when i do...
replacing it wasnt hard when i had this guide,
mine had a crack in it. not sure what is wrong with yours without having a look...is there any cracks etc in it?
found this on a site just then too - RE other explanations of the boot retaining water.
Boot Lid Water Retention - Some VT's have a nasty habit of collecting water in the rear garnish panel, and when the boot lid is opened, the water empties into the boot area (or on your head). A common cause is the washers that go between the garnish panel and boot lid. These need to be resealed to help prevent water entering into the boot lid.

Water may also enter the boot area from an aged or defective boot spoiler mounting gasket.
