Hi all im a newby so go easy.
My VX SS airconditioner has recently started to randomly turn off if it is set to the highest setting. i usually turn it to a lower setting and everything is good. anyone elso experience this problem
What do you mean by highest setting, temperature or fan speed?
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
i've been having the same prob with my VX calais. it tends to happen on hotter days only though?
i have a vt series 2 hsv, and i get this happening to me recently as well! if u listen carefully i can hear a clicking coming from the fuse area, ive checked all fuses and it seems to be alright, so ive also got no idea wat it is!
If you mean the blower fan, it could be that it is tripping the high pressure switch, especially if we are talking about the problem occuring in the severe heat of the last week or so.
This points to the system being perhaps slightly overcharged or the condensor just not being able to cope with the high heat load, do check that both cooling fans are coming on.
You can check if it is high pressure by testing for continuity across the high pressure switch, not sure where it is on your vehicle, its in the high pressure line somewhere.
sorry to invade the thread but this is also a VX SS aircon question (saves a new thread).
At some point the engine has been out of my car so the aircon has been degassed, and hasnt beed regassed as of yet.
when the engine is running, the aircon compressor makes a squeeking noise which eventually quietens down when the engine heats up.
if i spray some WD40 or belt grip on it, it stops the squeek for just a few seconds and then returns.
also, if i put the aricon on, the thermo fans start up automatically and fail to turn off at any point (even when the car is cold).
is this all to do with the system having no gass or is there something else not right?
i had a similar thing happening turned out it was a relay in the fuse area can't remember which one and too lazy to go see but have a look and you will find it then either get a new one or go to a wreckers
