heater by pass

Hello everybody,
Today I had a small issue with a split in a heater hose......I turned the bottom hose back to the pump to get me out of trouble(complete with kink).....My question is are there any negative effects for bypassing the heater system like this for a couple of days till I can fix properly on week end

Paul, when the cabin temperature control is on cold, the vacuum operated heater tap is off and just bypasses the hot coolant back into the motor. I have bypassed the system and had no ill effects.

Yeah i have had mine bypassed for a couple of months with no effect on anything with mine too.

What would I expect to pay for a vacuum operated heater tap for vs II. Sounds like a common sought after, after market part. Mine has crumbled to pieces. Presently bypassed.
