Default Help from VX owners! Need info installing VX manual boot release cable on VT

    Hi Guys,

I have recently removed my VT red reflective decor panel from my boot, and replaced it with a VX executive decor panel.

This is fine, and all is well... however if my electronic boot solenoid fails I won't be able to get into the boot since the VX decor panel doesn't have a hole for the boot key lock! I believe the VX has a manual boot release cable, which can be operated by dropping the middle seat and pulling on a yellow ring which will manually open the boot in case of electrical failure.

I have bought one of these manual boot release cables from my local holden spare parts store for $25. Now, I need help installing/fitting it.

Can anyone please explain how the VX manual boot release cable is installed? Photos, scanned pages from manual, good write ups would all be appreciated!

    Cheers.

Can anyone help with this? I'm scared the electric boot solenoid will fail and i'll be locked out of my boot. I Can't even climb through the middle of the back seat, cuz i've got a whopping huge LPG cylinder blocking the way!

Yes, there is a button in the glovebox, but it is electrical and also operates the same electric boot solenoid that the remote key boot release operates.

I need a "plan B" for WHEN the electrical solenoid stuffs up. The VX has a cable release for when this happens.

    Question Emergency Release Cable

This looks to be an old thread and I have'nt seen any answers yet. I've just bought a VYII Berlina and it looks like someone was locked in it's boot. The cable has been pulled through and the right side wheel well has been kicked in. I bought a second hand cable in tact and now I have to install the item. The cable handle is removeable supposedly to allow you to thread it through the bootlid reinforcement cavity to the right side hinge. From there it's a mystery where it goes. It appears to run behind the backrest of the rear seats, but if thats the case, wheres the mounting point for the ring end of the cable? Any help would be appreciated.

The cable runs along the drivers side boot hinge and the ring you pull to open the boot is on the drivers side when you open the armrest on the back seat.
