Weird Smell

Does anyone remember those balls that you got from the show and when you bashed them together they sparked and smoked?

Well when I accelerate hard on the highway (eg overtaking), i get that same smell that those things gave off.

Any ideas?

Brakes dragging? Harmonic balancer scraping on timing case cover ? Clutch ?or a bearing ceased in the wheel or idler pulley?

You don't have a crook boot rubber seal do you, allowing some gas to be sucked into the cabin?
