Hi Guys,
I own a VT Commodore, Series 2 S pac and I have recently installed the VX series 2 Tail lights and Garnish. When I bought them, They were claimed to be VX Clubsport R8 tail lights and center garnish( I am not sure if that matters) However the tail lights on either side have movement on the far outer edges.
What I mean is they don’t sit very flush, and the seals don’t meet up clean with the body of the car very well. They also have a bit of movement, So I was wondering did anyone else have this problem whilst doing this conversion and how did you over come it?
Cheers
Theres 2 rubber bung things that the steel rods plug into.
Are those VT rubber bungs still on it?
If so to overcome that problem you may need to get a hold of some VX clubby rubber bung things.
The aftermarket lights I have fitted only needed 1 rubber thing.
On the original Tail lights it had two metal ball joint looking things with plastic plugs over the end. On the VX Tail lights it had one of those, then with a plastic tube looking one.
I have not seen the rubber ones?
Ok yep, the VX ones are the same as the ones I have here....
Youll need to remove the bottom rubber plug on both sides and leave the top one in.
when installing the light make sure to give it a good push against the bit thats sticking out to let that top balljoint sit flush into the rubber.
The bottom plastic one will just sit loosly in the bottom hole.
Also make sure before you put the lights in, that the top rubber is in the hole first.
Mate, Mine has no rubber what so ever
So there is something on the body of the car that the light pushes into? Would there be any chance you could get some pictures of yours to help me out ? :S
Cheers
your on the right track on the rear tail light there will be a little steel ball that will need to get pushed into a black clip. these break very easily and can go missing there should be a flat spot on the body of the car where this would normaly sit it should line up with the little steel ball if its not there you will need to get a new one(s) you should be able to find them pretty easy.
