Hi there,
I bought my VX SS about 8 weeks ago and it has been great, no problems until today. I drove to work and there was air flowing through the vents as it should and the aircon worked perfectly. But when I left work and turned the dial to put on the aircon absolutely nothing came through! Not even the fan by itself without aircon switched on.
When I pressed the aircon button it engaged the aircon fan at the motor, but no air came inside the car at all
I'm baffeled as to what has happened to it
Does anyone have any ideas of what might be the cause ?
Cheers,
Glen
Check the fusible link marked blower in the engine bay. Could also be a faulty fan motor or bad connection, or fan speed resistor if you normal A/C, or fan amplifier if you have climate control.
Does the fan work on high speed?

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
Thanks for the tips, I'll have a look first thing in the morning![]()
Just normal A/C. I had a look at the fuses under the bonnet but there is no diagram for the fuses so I had no idea which one I was looking for. So I checked all of them and they seem ok
Also, the fan does come on when you engage from the controls inside the car

Ok, we managed to fix this ourselves if anyones ever interested. We removed the Blower & it's motor (one unit) from underneath the front passenger side dash board. We checked by attaching a 12volt battery directly to it's terminals, and nothing happened so we knew that this was the problem. We opened up the motor (two small bolts) removed the lid and cleaned up the set of contact points which are inside the motor with a piece of sandpaper, put the motor back together and tested with the battery again and she took off spinning as it normally should. We put the unit back in under the dashoard and tested it and everything was working perfectly.

My VY Berlina has just developed the same symptoms - air con works but no fan at any speed. I've checked the fusible link and the blower relay, but both are ok, so it looks like the fan motor in my case as well.
Was the fan motor easy to remove? I've had a look at the Haynes Manual but it is a bit vague, and I have to assume that the motor is in the same location on my VY as it was in your VX.
Hi Calaber,
The motor was very easy to remove, from memory there were 2 screws to remove the motor cover and I think there was a couple to remove the motor from the vehicle as well. Once done that there should be an electrical plug you need to disconnect from the side of the motor.
Once it's out there are 2 small bolts on the back of the motor, just unscrew and pop the back off. Inside you should find a set of contacts which I would recommend you clean both sides using some fine sandpaper.
After doing that, put the motor back together and if possible connect the motor directly to a 12v battery to test and make sure it's working before you put it back in the vehicle.
Let me know how you get on
Regards,
Glen
Hi Glen
Many thanks for the help. Found out how to pull the heater motor -i ts a bit different to the VX, but in the same location. Tested it - no joy - damned thing worked perfectly. I decided to drive down to the local dearer for some advice and found that the blower worked perfectly at high speed. That meant the amplifier was stuffed. Purchased a newie for $80 trade and all's well now.
I was lucky that I broke a glove box lid hinge, so I didn't reassemble it before getting the amplifier. That meant it was all just sitting there looking at me when I went to replace it. Very easy to do.
Again, thanks for your help.
No worries mate, glad you got it fixed. It's great to have aircon again
Calaber,
Where was the fan amp located?
I found what I was looking for .... Location of Fan Amp
