Default Wheel Bearing Hub price info

I thought it was worth posting this information for anyone that is in the market for Commodore front wheel bearing hubs.
After doing the rounds about prices and quality of the available options, i found some interesting options.
I needed the Hubs for a 1998 VT Commodore with ABS. Holden spares quoted me $510.00 ea (series 1) and $187.00 ea (series 2). Since my car is a series 1, a 1000 bucks for bearings was hard to swallow. Why there is such a difference between a series 1 & series 2 is beyond me
NSK Bearings are the OEM supplier to Holden and they do sell aftermarket units to the public. These prices were $190.00 net ea and are available through BSC (various locations) and other bearing suppliers like CBC in Sydney.
Timken also make a replacement unit which is good quality but they are $320.00 ea.
Imported units are available and most use SKF bearings which apparently have slightly more play in the bearing which in-turn increases runout tolerances. They still do the job but unfortuneately most retail outlets sell them for the same price as the NSK units. Web prices range from around $140.00 ea to $260.00 ea.
I hope this helps anyone looking to buy some hubs. Most bearings are making noise after 160K's and are stuffed by 200K's and the increased runouts can cause brake shudder and steering instability. Most drivers don't notice the slowly increasing rumble and blame the tyres or other wear and tear for the noises.
    Cheers

Thanks for the advice. It always pays to shop around, I do, and I don't buy anything from Holden unless there is no alternative.
