    Exclamation URGENT- Burst Radiator Hose

    Howdy all,
A really quick (urgent) one here..

Pulled up at home tonight, switched off the engine and heard a big gushing sound from the engine bay. I've had one rad go on me before (got replaced) and started having nightmares about the cost for this trip..

Turns out it's probably not so bad, it's the main hose that runs from the radiatior to the top of the engine - has an inch long split in it about 6 inches back from the engine.

I assume the hose itself is pretty cheap ($30-50) but does anyone know how long it would take to replace and flush/refill the coolant etc? I just need to work out how much it will cost - aiming to get it urgently done tomorrow early am... need to get wifey to hospital by 11am!! Gahhhh what timing. I'm not confident doing this work personally, would rather get someone in to do it.

    Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Out of curiosity - for those interested.

I did find someone who thinks he can get it done before i NEED the car back on the road... so fingers crossed that all goes to plan.

$80 callout then just parts + time, but hopefully it shouldn't be too big a job. IIRC when my rad went, it cost about $150 in labour + callout.. can't imagine this could be any worse, just replace hose and flush I assume.

Yeah I didn't think it'd be major but I'm just friggin stressed at the moment, prob do something to screw it up.

That and the fact I have no transport at the moment, so not super easy to get the part or coolant.

Need to be at hosp by 11 (half hour drive)... baby stuff happening :P

But thanks, good to know it shouldn't be a big (or expensive) job.

Two tools a man always needs:
    1. WD40 when you can't move it and it should move.
    2. Duct tape when you can move it and it shouldn't move.
