    Question V6 restrictor

My car is an ex police car, and my mate who is a mechanic told me that my engine has a restrictor on it which stops it from reaching it full potential speed wise.
What do i have to do to take this off my car?

    +1 on the above question...lol...

The restrictor kicks in like... past 220... and its not just ex-police... all cars have them... for example we discovered my mates VY maloo had some somewhere around 265kmph.

or enough to melt most automotive paintwork. lol

I think you should concentrate on how to get it accelerating quicker instead of going salt lake racing with it.

I thought the restrictors were the signs on the side of the road, you know, the ones with a number and big red circle around them......they are called speed limits.

vt are speed limited to 216 kph
it only goes to 220 so ya not far off the mark
if ya cant beat them at 216 i doubt you'll need to get to 220+
yes ya can have it taken off with a remap of your computer but not Worth it

you'll know when speed limiter kicks in it sounds a bit like rev limiter and bounces if you are just running out of puff its not your limiter its something else like throttle not opening all the way or stretched cable

Well, for one, I can't believe you're talking about 'only' doing 180km/h (presumably on a public road) on a public forum.
Secondly, if you were at a track day doing that speed, you should be embarassed.

Take the car back to nanna, she needs to go to bingo.
