Don't sand it back to the plastic and don't use paint stripper. Because when you respray it with undercoat and then paint it will bubble

Actually I'm not quite sure of the name but buy undercoat and paint suited for plastic so it doesn't crack later down the track

I would give them a good clean (remove them and use a good quality avaporative surface cleaner), use a plastic primer and follow the instructions, use regular enamel paint or acrylic if you want but remember many light coats are better than one or two heavy coats.
I'm doing mine today too, so i'll put up some pics when i'm finished.
One last thing, please don't use the cheapest crap available just to save money because you will only be taking them back off and repainting them in a fortnite if you do. Good luck with it mate, they look heaps better with them colour coded than the poxy black hey!

ive always wanted to do this, but never really wanted to enough to go out and get the paint and stuff. maybe you should do a how to on this chukkie, especially for taking them all off, people with less experience like myself will definately have a little trouble

what i was told by my spray painter is not to do it if they are old because they are dirty & the paint will just peel off.To hard to clean cause of the surface isnt flat it has little holes over them.Cleaning the dirt out of there is the hard thing so it doesnt peel off.If you buy new ones then paint them they wont peel.

Try spraying them with some "spray and Wipe" then give them a scrub with a steel wool soap pad to get the dirt out of the holes
