Hey guys im pretty new here.
Anyways i have a series 1 Vt acclaim. Just over a year ago the car wouldnt start, the red light on the dash stayed on, had no electrics and wouldnt respond to the key. Called lube mobile out and ended up being the BCM. New one set me back $1600.
Tonight exactly the same thing happened. the car was idling for a few min, so i turned it off and then wouldnt turn back on. I wasnt thrashing it or anything, just idling on the side of the road while i talked to the girlfriend. Could the BCM have stuffed up in just over a year? and what grounds would i have with lube mobile? I dont really want to spend another $1600 on the car just to get it started when i did it 13 months ago.
Matt
First off I have to say that Lube Mobile ripped you off big time. I had to get a new BCM in my VT Acclaim and Holden did it for under $500, I don't remember the exact price.
Your BCM probably had 12 months warranty so that has expired. It wouldn't hurt to call Lube Mobile and ask if they can do anything considering they charged you 3 times the price.
What makes you think that the BCM is the problem again, is the security light flashing when you try and start it?

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
Yeah the light stays on and the car wont start. No electrics work in the car, like the boot release on the key, central locking etc. It happened exactly the same like 14 months ago, exact same symptoms. i called lube mobile and there sending someone out to have a look and see, bottom line was i wasnt going to pay for the same part from them again ill get one somewhere else, especially if u say u had yours for under $500. Where abouts do you live?
Yep mate, $500 supplied & fitted by holden is what it cost me, and that was 5 years ago!! Maybe it cost the lube guy $1100 to drive to you and spend his quality time on your car??......Not likely. I'd spend $50 on a tow and get it checked properly.
Have u tried getting a new key? It may be stuffed.
seen that before. my mates one wouldnt start. cleaned the ring around the ignition. got it home and tried the other key. perfect
