    Question Replacing Motor Question

    Hey all,

I have a question on my mind that I would like to pass on to all of you that know far more then me,

My VX by the beginning of next year will hit 300,000k's and at which point I dont care what condition the motor is in I would love to get a replacement one before i have to start replacing all of the hoses and parts within the motor.
I know that that wont necessarily be the major thing that will go wrong but more of the suspension and such, anyways my question is if I want to replace the motor can I,

    1. Replace it with an alloytec engine(180-190kw)?
    2. Could I buy a new engine either alloytec or ecotec (152kw) from holden or elsewhere? I am very aware that I could get a used one for $900 with low K's but just curious.

    thanks

edit: bloody p plater laws and no V8's :-(

Hmmmm, Alloytech, IMO you would be better off looking into the Supercharged Ecotech if you are looking for 190kw. You can pick them up for anywhere between $2100 to $3500 depending on the condition. It will go straight in where as i am not real sure of the Alloytech into a VT/VX. There are plenty of threads on here that will put you in the know about L67 conversions.

Yea i agree a supercharged ecotech may be the better option in my case as it's maybe cheaper but it going to be difficult to find a low km one these days isn't it? I am happy to buy a new one if Holden still sells them, but i bet they are astronomical in price.
I thought of doing an engine rebuild but then, since i do a lot of country driving and city driving I cant really afford it to have anything major go wrong with it.
