    Default putting in a towbar!!!

i have a vt 2000 series 2 with no tow bar and iam thinking of installing one as they go really cheap on ebay and i bought a jet ski and need to get it around with my car, firstly my rear bumper hasnt got the hole which where the tongue of the towbar comes out dunno why it hasnt as ive seen other vts the same as mine have the hole, anyway it can prob be put from under but most towbars on ebay ive seen are for the inside bumper install,My other question is if i buy a towbar does it bolt stright on the chasis if i take bumper off? are holes already there? and where would i find the wiriong for the connector is there any spare plug under bumper where loom can clip stright on?

You have to pull the rear bumper bar off and from behind you'll see a section that you have to cut out for the towbar to fit through. Also behind there should be four studs from the chassis to mount the bar onto.

The cutout section isn't always there, it wasn't on mine, but i just measured it up and cut it out myself.
There are 4 studs that the towbar goes onto as well as the mounting bolts for the rear crash bar, can take a bit of lining up to get it, rubber mallet and a car jack did it though.
You should get all the instructions with the towbar.

Don't compromise in quality. Get the best you can afford as it is the only link between your car and trailer. If it fails, you will not only lose valuable property but it could also result in death or injury of someone. Go to an accredited tow bar manufacturer/supplier. You won't regret it.

I was under the impression a towbar had to be fitted by an approved workshop.

The towbar that was on my VT didn't go through the plastic rear bar (i'm not calling it a bumper bar, cause it's made out of recycled barbie dolls), my towbar actually came out underneath.
It was a really good setup and I know it was quality, as Hayman Reece usually are.

Go to a fitter and get a quote, you might be surprised.

The power take off socket is found behind the pocket on the drivers side. Holden dealers will have the trim piece to finish off the square hole you cut in the rear bumper.

It's still called a bumper because thats what it does, it bumps into things. It's not called an anti damage bar.

Some towbars come out under the bumper, some go through it. It just depends on the brand.

Have fitted 1000s of the hayman Reese style towbars and other makes or towbars to a VT/VX really easy to do i have some pics below of when i did mine...

Mine is 1600KG mini hitch bar H/R style the hitch section is 40x40mm. The heavy duty one is 50 x50mm(2100kgs) and has braces that goes inside the boot well it requires more holes bout a extra 8 more holes than my one below.... (take care if you drill the holes on the D/S use a drill stop otherwise you will drill into the fuel tank)

There is also a standard to bar which is rated 1250kg and has a bolt on neck...

On the VT the you dont need to cut the bumper bar if you use a hayman reese one P/N 1571 as it comes under the bumper bar if you go for the 40x40mm (P/N RL1810) or 50x50mm(R1803)bar you will have to cut the bumper but there is a dotted outline you can use to do this so its not so bad and the H/R kit comes with a section of pinch mould to go around your cut so it looks nice, Also there is a groumet in the middle of the beaver panel below the boot catch that you can use for the wiring

The wiring is in the right hand side behind the taillight
    BLUE/RED TRACE= BRAKE
    LIGHT BLUE= LEFT SIGNAL
    DARK BLUE= RIGHT SIGNAL
    BLACK/WHITE TRACE= EARTH
    BROWN= PARKERS
