    Default Guard flaring

Before I get a full car respray I'm considering doing a few little modifications which will make my VT differ from most others but I'm not quite sure, and it isn't really as easy as changing a door trim to revert to stock so I was just wondering what everyone else things about flared guards on a VT...?

Also does anyone have an opinion on puttin in the VZ SS front guard style indicators (i believe their called flutes or something) onto a VT? I thought it was a good idea initially however now I'm having doubts...

Any pics or other mod suggestions welcome

imho i rekon it'll look gay and wouldnt do either of those mods.
if i was getting a full respray i'd just get the aerial shaved but its your car good luck.

aerial shaved would be a tasteful mod.
there are a few replacement options these days.
just take a look at the Ford BA's, they have their aerial in the back window - you wouldnt even know it was there.
and for those that say there are reception issues - B.S - i own a BA Fairmont and have not had one instance of bad reception.

another tasteful mod would be to colour code the black strips on the roof.

Have seen a couple of VY, VZs that have had the rear guards massaged a little wider so they could have wider rims on them. It wasn't in your face wide but just a little and with the wider rims it looked really tough. The front I wouldn't worry about cause they look sort of flared but the rear in standard form does look a little boring.

Doesn't look gay if executed properly! Commyvts GTSR replica is a perfect example (he was on here, so look in the VT section and you might find it)

I'm not looking to go for a massive flare, just something to make it look that little bit different. I'm considering getting the rear arches tubbed so I can run 265-275 tyres on the street and something like a 315 slick or thicker at the track so I can hopefully recieve some sort of traction so really a flare would just be for the look.

Anyone seen and pictures of older model cars with the newer VZ SS flutes? I found out ssv sells them.

How much work is involved in "massaging" the rear guards, Im keen to lower my VZ but the offset rims i have on look as though they will only just scrap on the guard

theres a bloke on the gold coast in qld that sells fibreglass guards that are fluted & flared, not overly flared but just enough to fit wider tyres on the vehicle. dunno what they fit like though. as for flaring metal, with the right tool this easy as. theres a tool available that bolts to the vehicles hub assembly, then theres a roller that swings up & rolls the guard or panel to what size you need. precise & accurate every time if thats what you want to do.

I got quoted $150 for both sides on the rear of my VT from Low Down Guard Rolling. It is a mobile service based in Greenvale, Victoria I think.
