Wondering...
Due to finance issue I need to combat this question.
I need rear tyres replaced... defiantly and I told myself next tyre replacement I'll put these 18" i have laying around on.
Problem is time has come to replace the tyres but i dont have enough to get all 4 done.
So im wondering the front I think has 16" standards.. which ill leave but will it pose a problem if i put 18" in these rims and put them on the back? (Both Legal and Common Sense Wise I must know lol).
dont know if i follow what your saying but:
you CAN NOT put 18 inch tyres on 16 inch rims.
you CAN have 18 inch tyres (on 18 inch rims) on the rear and have your 16 inch tyres (on 16 inch rims) up front.
you CAN have them the other way around too but you will be hasseled by the Police (they will think you have your burnout tyres on).
The 16's Should be a different profile so should be about the same as the 18 with low profile but doing that will change how the car steers and the geometry.. Should be Ok and as for legal I couldn't see a problem really.
Why is it called Alcoholics Anonymous when the first thing you do is stand up and say, 'My name is Ray, and I am an alcoholic'?
Alright cool.. just to clarify.
6 Month ago purchased 18" Rims (because they were cheap)
Today I realised I need to replace my rear 2 tyres, and dont have enough to replace the whole set so I just want to LEAVE THE FRONT 2 as they are (16" Alloys") and put new tyres on the 18" and just put 2 on the rear until I can afford to replace the front. Make sense?
I think I got it though..
yeah makes sense
id probs just chuck the smaller (16") on the rear and the 18's on the front. all the young hoons seem to do it so it looks like they do fully sick burnouts on stockies...
dunno if its legal, or covered for insurance in an accident. the rolling diameter might end up the same but the difference in sidewall height the handling could be dangerous and unpredictable. you shouldn't even really fit different tyre brands if you want even handling.
There's nothing wrong with doing this it will just look odd. If the police say anything just tell them the 18's from the front have low tread on them so you put the 16's on to keep your car roadworthy and safe.
