Hi all,
Just bought some Genuine VE 20's not GTS... and just thinking how hard it would be to fit the 9.5" rears on my senator.
Offset is 57p
Is it just as simple as buying some bolt on hub spacers from wheelworx?
And fitting the rims in general, is it just drilling out the centres? or do i have to get different wheel nuts?
Im hoping thiese would look pretty cool while being totally different and original![]()
My understanding with the machining of the rims is that about 2mm need to come off the inside of the VE wheel hub. A friend of mine has ve 18s on his vx and he used a lathe to machine the hub to fit.
no longer a hoon by association - the commodore is gone
Cool thats no dramas, now any ideas on the rear 9.5" wheel?
it'll be tuff i reckon to put em on...i thought 9" was the widest? i could be worng but gdluck![]()
At least itl help putting some power down to the ground, wheelspin becomes annoying after a while![]()
when are you getting them fitted mate? love to know how you go.
started a thread the other day with no response, got myself a set of 19's off a ve 19x8 front and 19x9.5 rear and wanna find out how ill go with the rears.
might do some running around 2day and try find out.
wont be getting them fitted for a while mate, need tyres first, but wont buy them until i know they are going to fit.

Hi. I just fitted the VE rims on my car 9.5" x 19" with a 275 tire on it on the rear, yes you need to machine the center out but at the same time you will need to space the wheel out, I have found each car seems to be a little different as some need a 10mm spacer but I only had to use a 5mm spacer. I went a little further by lowering the car so the tire meets the level of the guard so I then got the guard rolled. If you go to a 8-10mm spacer you will need to change the wheel studs but in most cases 3-5mm resolves 75% of most vehicles.
If you need further advice your welcomed to pm me
Is that it? thats pretty easy.. i wonder why we dont see many of the fat rear VE wheels on cars.
You got any good pics mate?
ive seen 10" under the guard of a VT-VZ, they were aftermarket rims though.
And ive had 8.5" 20 tucked well up into the guard so ive figured it shouldnt be too hard to get another inch wider in there.

cheers mate.
just found this out using an offset calculator comparing my std 18's to these 9.5" :
The clearance from stut housing to the inside of the wheel will be 28mm LESS
The outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 10mm
So it shouldn't be too much of a hassle like 'Black as' has said
Just remember its not the outside guard you have to worry about its the inner guard that you have the problem with, if you lower it then the outer guard becomes the problem and then you will have to get the guards rolled, I must say it looks as tuff as
guards are rolled good and proper, and its slammed but not fussed whether i have to raise it or not.
it should have enough room on the inner guard if spaced out a bitstill awaiting your pics

ill be keeping my eye on this thread, goodluck tom. it'll look tough as if it works out.. hopefully you dont have to raise her too much to make em fit cos its at an awesome ride height at the moment![]()
