    Default *Digital Climate Conversion*

I know I've seen a thread about it somewhere....
But to save digging an old thread.....

Does anyone know exactly what need's to be changed when converting from standard climate control to a digital climate control?

Obviously I will need to change the climate control cluster itself, but what else is needed?

    Wiring Loom?
    Whole lot?
    ecu?

The main thing you will need is the heater box and that means the dash need to come out, a big job and that's the part that puts most people off doing the conversion. a Few different sensors are also required, I think. You won't need to change the ECU.

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.

Taking the dash out does'nt bother me... I had to take everything right back to the heater box to change the carpet lol

I dont like fiddling with sensors though.
So its too much trouble then its worth?

Yep - been talked to death that one. I think pretty much everyone that has bought a base commodore since the VR has thought of upgrading to climate. Some people have done it - hats off to them! It's a HUGE job. Budget $500 for all the parts and $1000+ labour if someone else does the work. Full dash removal and refit alone is $400+ labour.

You need more than just the controller panel, you need all the sensors that go with it, and you need to replace the heater core and box as it's different also need a different fan speed controller and all the vac lines that control the flaps. Lot's of wiring. Full loom swap and BCM.

If you are still keen search the forum - people that have done it have shared info (most reckon they wouldn't do it again).
