accelerator sticky?

my VU ss ute is giving me the shits, the accelerator has just started to feel sticky? like driving it takign off from idol, its hard to push and then suddenly it just moves and lurches the ute forward. has anyone els ehad this problem?

is it just cable in need of lube? or replacement? or something else?
the throttle body and accelerator feel perfect when the car isnt running!

that has happend to my grandparents car twice now, according to their mechnic, its a common problem.... Anyway, they say its carbon build up in the throttle body, costs them $80 to get it professionally cleaned.
