okay, so long story short iv got a vt super6 that needs a new trans..
getting real tired at 294***ks n loses overdrive when it gets hot from slipping i assume..
i know its a 4l60e.. but am unsure to any differences between one from an ecotec and a l67 if anyone knows itd be greatly apprieciated!
as you might know to find one for a vs/vt/vx/vy is fairly common but one from a charged6 aint easy or cheap will one from another model suit without a problem??
cheers guys![]()
get a batter quality oil for it.
my cruiser plays up when the tranies hot
put another cooler on it
theres no point i flushed n serviced it.. still slips and is laggy as all hell through gears.. just burns the oil
already running 2 coolers
like i said its done nearly 300thousand ks an got cained sh*tless for half of that
The only difference between the super 6 trans and an ecptec trans is the converter. Maybe try getting your converter relined or just straight out buy and after market stall and either way the box will need a feshen up because there will be clutch material through there. The super 6 loves a little extra stall but at the same time does well without it.
Al that said, it is possible that your box is still fine and it may just be the conveter lock up solenoind faulting which is a $100 part. It comes with a new trans loom and is the only solenoid that isn't replaced stand alone in the box.
VYII Calais L67
thanks for that mate
an yeah i did hear that the converter was the only difference between the two and i reckon a 2800-3200stally would be perfect for the torque curve but money is the next thing!
id be happy with a second hand trans thats done under 100thousand ks n maybe put a kit through it n booster valve + bigger servo.. just to eliminate the slipping thats killed it and slows it down so much in shifts
has anyone done the above themselves?
we tested all the solenoids with the pan off and a scan tool and all seemed fine by the amount of sludge (clutches i assume) in the pan i know its slipping like made it also came up as a fault code transmission slipping!
