Hey all
I bought a VT calais around christmas time. It was lovely to go from an old VH to a car full of luxury until we got home after a 2 hour drive, my girlfriend and i noticed it had some faults, the rear elelctric windows only work when they wanted to so we got them fixed through our warrenty. The thing thats bothering us is our 10 disc CD stacker doesn't work and warrenty is does not cover audio equipment.
When we press the CD button, it just flashes ERR 99, we have done the micro computer reset where you hold the off button for 7 seconds, but it still says the same thing, we spoke to someone from holden and they said disconnect the battery and then hook it back up. We tried that but it still doesn't work. Then he told us to unplug the head unit and leave it off for 20 minutes hook it back up and then see what happens. I have not done that as I'm not sure how to get behind the dash without breaking anything.
I took the stacker apart and found a CD was jammed in there so i took it out, as i was doin this i noticed stress marks in the metal of the boot, and tiny pieces of glass from a back windscreen, which made me think that it has been rear ended when it was previously owned and might of damaged the stacker...
Is it worth keeping it? or just get a new head unit?
What should i do to get some tunes happening, im sick of the radio!
take it back and ask why didnt they inform you of the previous accident
Just get a new head unit installed. You can get a decent one with MP3 for around $200 to $300. Every car I have ever got has had the factory stereo fail about 2 - 3 months after I got it, including my VT Calais.
