    Default VY Panels onto VT

Sorry if it has been asked before...

So i have a Ser 1 VT Exec the front end is bit smashed up still driveable but it looks like crap, So can i graft or fit VY Panels and lights etc onto a VT.... or am i better of staying with the VT series eg monaro/Stateman.....

you can buy Vy front bars made to fit VTs, you will need to buy the vy headlights that are pointy though. But i dont really like the look of the vy style bars on vt anyway, just get a monaro/gto bar that look sweet, or vx ss with vx headlights.

I thought VY and VZ bars would go straight on, i think ive seen a pic of a VT with a VZ calais front end on and if i recall correctly i was told they were genuine parts. But i very well may be incorrect.

You'd definitely need the headlights if you tried to fit a genuine bar.

Would imagine it would be pretty straightforward though, as the bodies are 90% the same through the VT/X/Y/Z series?

You can fit genuine parts, but you'll need:

    - The front bar itself
    - VY/VZ bonnet
    - VY/VZ front guards
    - VY/VZ front reo bar
    - VY/VZ headlights

If its just the front bar thats looking a bit worse for wear, you'll probably find it better value for money to go with a nicer looking VT/VX bar.

The car was owned by my brother and was never looked after and it has been sitting in my shed for the last 12 months while he is living in the UK

So drivers side was hit by a Roo and the other side a Light pole in a car park...so i am going to need both front guards, bonnet and Bar anyway...

You'll need a bonnet too if you want the VY bar to match.

But IMO it will look strange with a VY front on the VT. VT's are a nice shape and look good, the VY is just more modern.

Go with a VX bar if you want an update.

Yes you will also need the bonnet, VY/VZ bonnet hinges and the shroud around the windscreen wipers. I have done this before on my wagon

I remember seeing a pic of a VZ front on a VT, looked ok but the rear end of the VT is way too differently shaped.

A VY/VZ front end will pretty much go straight on. You will need the whole front end though (guards, bonnet, bumper, lights ect ect)

a vx kit would suit it better imo, as said above a vy/vz kit is just shaped too differently.

I wonder, if you got the rear guards, rear bar, tail lights and bonnet, if it would all bolt up?

Then you'd pretty much have a VY/VZ on the outside, and a VT/VX on the inside. Would be interesting

Might be a problem considering the 'rear guards' are actually 'rear quarter panels' and are a pressed part of the body... Would need to be cut and shut, hardly ideal.

I did always wonder that, as i personally prefer the VZ rear over the VT, but i prefer the VT front over the VZ.

So if you could get a VZ rear and a VT front i'd be in heaven, but i imagine it would be difficult to do.

Unless Holden's changed something major with the VY/VZ, i can't imagine it being any more difficult to put a VT/VX front on a VY/VZ than it is to put a VY/VZ front on a VT/VX.
