G'day all
i have a question or two.
The main question being how much would i expect to sell my car for?
The main reason i am thinking of selling my car is insurance issues.
Since i bought it i have been comp insured with AAMI,
last year i started to modify my ride. with things listed below. (AAMI class factory fitted spoiler as a modification!!!!)
AAMI only allow one modification to under 25's, and since i started insurance my Yearly cost went from 2.5k to $600, but because of modifications, insurance will be void if i keep it modified.
So i cant find any insurance company that will sinure my modified car as im under 25. I do not want to move to Just car and loose my rating and pay 2.5K again.
Most other insurance company wont insure a modified ride.
Note: will cost me 1K'ish to remove all mods and revert back to stock
That is my dilemma.
Anyway. Unfortunately i am thinking of selling my car and buying something cheaper to run and something that is manual.
my other questions is how much do you think i would be able to sell my car for?
The specs are as follows and includes pictures here: http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/...tle-money.html
Car has been serviced regularly and well kept.
Currently 156,000k's
Unfortunately there is a dent in front bumper, 2 small dent in roof and a keyed bonnet.
a value on how much my car is worth stock/ and or modified will be great.
Cheers
You won't loose your rating just because you move to another insurer. It's calculated based on how long you've held insurance, and claims you've made on your insurance. Basically every year you don't make a claim, you move up a step, each claim you make, you move down a step.
Call up all the various insurers and speak on the phone to them. Often the online quotes will refuse to give you a quote if you have mods and/or are young. Don't mean they won't insure you. NRMA allow for unlimited mods, provided they don't involve internal engine mods, or forced induction.
Do your homework and you might find a good deal.

Yep, you're right about NRMA, and yes I think RACV is the Melbourne equivalent. Couldn't tell you if they're mod policy is the same though.

maybe just think of getting 3rd party?
6-8k is all its worth.
mods dont add value so it makes little difference how much youve spent in mods.
insurance is still comming up at 1650 at minimum for full comp
are my 19" wheels on my VX roadworthy?
they are new and 80% rubber. running on 245/35/r19
For a modified VX V6, 1650 sounds about right for an under 25 to insure.

Due to the fact that the 2" rule is governed by series?
So my 2002 vx acclaim (commodore series) Not including hsv (different series)
Biggest rim on that series was 17", add 2 inches and you have 19"
so apparently my wheels are legal and roadworthy.
no need to sell the car now![]()
