hi guys im new to JC

i know this has most definitly been asked before but would like ur help a lot.

so first of all im looking at buying a vt
but i dont like the boot

i would like to know if it is possible and how to get it to look like a vx boot

i would like to hear from anyone who has done it before, wither painted over the lights on the boot or put a vx boot on it.

Well the boots are identicle, its the garnish on them. The piece around the licence plate is the same shape as the piece on the VT give or take, so you can take it off and replace it with one off a VX like in the pic or the nicer boot garnish like whats on VX Calais and the like.

Some people i know have said they like the look of the VT garnish just properly painted in the colour of the car. Its really a case of personal choice.

There nothing wrong with original vt garnish and what not but i do like the painted garnish much more than the red plastic.

i've seen a standard VT garnish painted on a few VT's.

On one the whole thing was painted including the reverse lamps (with monaro lights fitted). You could still see the "shape" of the reverse lamps as the VT granishes are not perfectly flat like the VX ones.

On another they had masked the reverse lamps but painted the rest of it.

I know it's personal choice, and some people don't want to give up the boot-lid keyhole (which the VX don't have), but IMO either of the above looks really cheap and nasty!

If you want a painted garnish PLEASE get a VX one and paint that, they look so much better!

daron i like what youve done with your vt but with the standard vt lights it just looks like the garnish should be there and sorta looks bare without it. Its just that thats putting me off cos i was thinking of doing what youve done to my own. Yes, almost every vt or vx with monaro lights looks ricey but only cause they have all the cheap looking chrome ones. The vt in the first post with black background ireckon looks awesome and verytidy..
Anyway props to ya for what youve done

the pic in the first post is standard garnish not black its still red
all i did was paint the factory red bit
when ya see it in real life being so low it also looks heaps wider giving an aggressive look
