would a 2.5" twin exhaust on a super6 VT be too loud for legal standards in VIC if i took the rear res off and just put a straight out pipe in instead??

Mines just a 6 and was told by the exhaust place that if I leave off the resi or rear muffler it will be too loud, I live across the road from a police station so wouldnt take the risk.
But my vote is yes. Isnt it also there for emission reasons.
