I'm sure people have done this before.
But apon close inspection of the standard setup the bonet seems to be restricting the airflow to the pipe.
I am in the process of designing a scoop behind the grill that runs up the radiator and into the bottom of the standard pipe.
So far so good (just waiting for paint to dry)
Do you think this will have any effect?
Heres a shopped pic of what i'm trying to acheive

Ok took it for a run and I noticed a bit of a difference in power and a slightly louder sucking noise.
Its also completly invisable behind the grill. only noticable difference is the two screws inside the top of the pipe holding the scoop on
Heres pics of it for anyone mildly interested.

love it mate
great idea!
Well, glad it worked for you, but it's always better to have 2 intakes over 1! :P But you might loose your sucking sound that way!
Thats a good design though, doesn't interrupt the radiators cooling process too much, well from what i CAN see!
Nice idea. Just an idea, what if you were to cover the top inlet somehow how and only having the one behind grille taking in air? Dont think it will have much affect but no harm in trying?
ave to say nice worksmanship aswell looks very tidy
nice, a bit of a louder sucking noise is nothing for a cooler air intake.
