I recently got a 98 VT V6 with almost 200,000ks and have noticed a whirring noise that sounds like the car is revving higher than it is. The noise is there no matter what speed the car is going, but it disappears momentarily when driving around a left hand bend, but returns when straightening.
A friend said it could possibly be the pinions - any other ideas what this problem could be? If it is the pinions, would the entire diff need to be replaced?
Thanks
sounds like your pinion bearing is gone is quite often the whole diff doesnt have to be replaced but u will be looking at about 600 to have it pulled out and replace the pinion bearing and also the carrier bearings might as well do it while its out and its only another 50 buks to get em done as well.
sounds like you wheel bearing to me.
Thanks guys
I'll take it up to the mechanics today and see what is said...
