Im looking at buying a 2.5'inch redback system for my manual vt spac, but i was just gunna ask around and see how much more power you's would think it would output,
and as for the sound if its anygood of a note?
Well I did mine last Thursday, and it sounds great, but I couldn't feel any noticeable difference in power.
Definitely worth doing though if you get it sounding nice.
If you didn't wanna spend too much more money, get them to gut your cat (should cost about $50), I didn't do this to mine but it will make it 10x louder and I'd say would make you feel a slight difference under foot.
Even if you're thinking of installing yourself, just speak to your local exhaust place.
Don't get redback, get a lukey exhaust. You wont pay much extra either, got one for my mate for $350 installed. IMO redback exhaust sound shit and most of the time you get a crap drone.

had one put on mine, cost me 400 with stainless twin dumper, way better top end!!!!!
Hey guys a quick question, if you gutt the cat would you stil be able to register it. do they check the emmisions and that. coz theres some poisonous gasses coming out of the exhaust. and could you register it if you took off the EGR. coz my extractors are from a super 6 so it doesnt have the egr pipe sticking out. when you go for your RWC do they check the emission level and noise??
gutting the cat is stupid illegal and will only gain you a few hp
An yes they can check to see if you have gutted a cat by putting a digital thermometer on it the cat will be the same temp as the rest of the exhaust where if you have the guts in it it will run hotter.
Take it easy...But do take it...
Do not argue with an IDIOT.
He will just drag you down to his level an beat you with experience.
Some people take me the wrong way, Like smacking up Marijunna.
To the OP
Gains from a cat back exhaust change going from a thin pipe to a thicker one will lose torque down low but add more KW up top.
i gutted my cat awhile back, i recommend not doing it, it makes your car stink like shit, first thing i did was get a brand new one, and yeah its illegal
way to revive a year and a half old thread, specially one as common as an exhaust question lol
So guys what would be some consequences of removing the whole EGR setup? do I need to F**k arond with the ecu to disable egr?
Has anyone removed egr before?? Thanks
I got a redback system for my VX and for the price i paid its awesome. No need to go over board and pay more than double for not much more![]()
What should I do, what are my options. you guys think I should find a pipe to weld it on and make it work. would it impact fuel economy if I plumbed it back. what if I put a mini air breather at the end of the egr so it sucks normal air in????
Gutted cats don't make any difference to performance anyway, I had one collapase so I smashed both out untill I could get some new ones (have done now). It sounds shit and doesn't make it perform any better.
I also had a collapsed cat and knocked them both out until i had the funding. I had two hi-flow stainless cats installed for $700 so i have no loss of powere when i upgraded my exhaust to a 2 1/2" dual redback with straight through cats an rear muffler i scored that for $100 2 days old!. Dont worry about the brand, if it states that its a sport exhaust then no matter what the brand its made of good stuff. It just depends on what you want, stainless, mild, 2 1/2" or 3
All done today, thanks guys although U didnt help sh*t.I welded a pipe onto the extractor and brough the egr back into action!!!
