I know this has been mentioned a thousand times but sorry, i have searched and still not satisfied...All i want to know straight up is if a pod filter can fit in a VT airbox and if so will i need any type of adapters to connect it or does it jus go straight on?? Also would i be better off with this or a panel filter??
If you want to connect it to the VT pipe then yes you will need an adaptor.
The mouth on most pods is the same size as the VT intake pipe so you will need the adaptor for it.
Though there are some pods out there with smaller mouthes that will fit inside the VT pipe.

ahuh sweet as man, the adapters you can pick up at autobarn or repco yea?
You should be able to.
I just picked up a small pipe off a VN at my local wreckers. (has to be flexable)
too easy mate cheers! just don't want to **** up n get the wrong filter or adapter.. gotta get the right stuff, ill give it a go![]()
why would you put a pod filter in an air box...?
The idea of a pod filter is that it, in most cases, has more surface area than a panel filter and thus if able to filter a higher volume of air than a panel filter thus making it easier for the engine to suck air... putting it in an air box defeats the purpose abit...?
And the only time you will see gains from a pod filter over a panel filter is when the pod filter has more filtering surface area than the panel AND has more access to free flowing, cool air around it...
May aswell just get a decent panel filter... am i missing something?
kinda the same reason why we have shrouds/covers over our pods maybe? so the pod doesnt suck in hot air.
Theres no difference in performance really weather its in the box or under the engine.
that is the smallest looking pod ive ever seen LOL. ive pulled a wildcat pod apart and measured the surface area compared to a K&N panel and it had a heap more surface area not including the second inlet on the end of it so would flow more .but it wouldnt fit in the vp airbox .I think the VT airbox is bigger so it might of fitted in one of them as long as the box has a good CAI going to it and it has enough space around the pod there should be no issues running a pod in the box.
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
No... i mean why put a pod filter in an airbox? defeats the purpose abit?
You're getting a pod filter so you can filter more air faster and then limiting how much air the pod filter can filter by putting it in an airbox...
So you may aswell just have a decent panel filter which is designed specifically to work the best in that specific airbox...?

yeah not much good in the box ...take it out(but still connected) and see if there's a performance change..
Hmmm, I don’t see that it could be any more restricting. However I would just say you probably aren’t getting optimum performance of the Pod.
I don’t think it would be any more restricting, It would probably just make allot more inducting noise as the Pod is sucking harder then usual to get the air?
The airbox flows enough air for the maximum revs x engine capacity, the pod just allows the engine to suck that same volume of air with less resistance, therfore more efficiently. Given the VT's have otr cai, you may as well put the pod in the box if you can, as its cooler air and partially pressurised (at speed).

soo basically what you guys are saying is i should just get a panel filter, will i get any performance out of that or more so the pod in the box (no CIA)??
a high flow panel in the factory box with standard cai is deffinatly an improvement
but with my personal results the pod still gave better response + gained .5psi in boost..
BUT soon as the engine bay warms up thats all over.. L67's absolutely hate hot air
I thought all VT's had CAI - the bit sitting on top of the radiator with an oval hole - thats the air inlet, takes cold pressurised air from the nose of the car (point of highest presssure) so the engine isn't sucking heated engine bay air. A pod filter in that air box will flow more that a standard panel filter, but if you can afford a K&N panel then all the better, cause you can clean and oil it.
