    Default groinys vt 6

hey im hixi , im new to commodores and 2wd cars in fact but just today i went out today and bought myself a new vt for a dayly driver,
its a 98 model v6 acclaim with 240 showing and has no mods at all apart from some 17's
what i would like to do is make it look like a vt gts and maybe do the engine up a little bit and ofcourse lower it

what should it do to the engine and what bodykit do i need to make it look like the one in the pic?
cheers for looking at my vt

Ah i see you bought this from that guy in essendon $2,990 ?

Went and had a look at it for myself since i was looking for a project car. interior was very clean. Was given a time to come look at the car, but somebody was already there checking out the numbers before handing over cash. (he could have rang me and said dont bother driving FROM EPPING!!). Congrats on the buy though! I'd like to see what you get done to it!

    What id do:
Put on a VX rear garnish and VX tail lights.
VX SS Front bar with VX headlights (then DIY convert them to SS lights *look in how to section*)
VX SS side skirts and rear skirt
    2 1/2" exhast system
    VX SS rear spoiler

lol yeah mate he did that to about 4 people and when i got there it had a new dint in the drivers door from his son taking it out of the shed just before i where to pick it up suposably.
your idea sounds good though i might go vx , i wasnt oridgionally because i hate bodykits that make it look like a car irs not ment to be, ie a vx bodykit with the vt lights,
    il look into it though.
the car drove well from melb back out to wodonga and did 360km's to 1/3 of a tank which i liked

Mate, sounds like you are wanting to turn the car into something you hate with the GTS body kit?
Just take it for what it is, a VT not a GTS or a VX. So mod it into a nice VT and you should have a nice daily. I'd start lowering, the rims are not that bad actually, should sit nice a little lower.
Anyway, good luck with it, and welcome to the world of commodores

Firstly, great pickup! Love to see a nice clean VT...

As for the bodykit, you have to decide wether you want a fiberglass one or an original. An original is going to put a much bigger dent in your pocket, but fiberglass kits are prone to cracking due to road bumps and regular driving. If you want to go ahead with the kit, that is the first thing that you should decide.

As far as engine mods go, for the love of god, set yourself a limit before you start. Set out what you want to do, how much it is going to cost, etc - and stick to it! There isn't much need to start playing around with the engine in my opinion if the car is just to get you from A to B comfortably but each to their own. Set out what you want to do and how much you have to spend, you will find plenty of helpful people around these forums. (Personally, I'd just stick on an exhaust with extractors and maybe some induction and then leave the engine)

looks neat, every blardy granada VT commodore is this forum lol...

If it's going to be your daily just have a look @ Ozzie's VT... he painted lower sills and kept the original bumpers... In hind sight I should have done the same thing rather than switching to the VX SS kit..

How much did you pay for it in the end btw? Just curious. Doubt you would have paid the $2,990 with the new dent.

Nah no dents on it when i looked at it. Surprised you were game enough to drive it home.. Those tires were in tatters! Nothing left of them!

That would be a VT HSV GTS in the bottom pic with a VT GTS bodykit.
Also you will need to lower it anyways if you want it to look like a GTS as they dont have standard springs they have FE2 which are slightly lower than standard.

Looks nice and clean though. Obviously didnt come with rego seing as theres no plates on it?

i think thats what il go for , ive always liked the vt gts's .

the list of things to do

get her on the road and new rubber and its going to be plated groiny (if someone steels this plate i will kill)
bodykit and general tidy up of the rest of the body to get it sweet
    lowering with king springs
    extractors and 2.5" exhaust

thats my list and il keep a total as i go because if i set one now im sure i will just disapoint myself
