I just got this nice black VU SS Ute ..gave it the once over (a ute is much easier to clean as I suspected)..and took a few pics.
I havnt had a V8 manual before..and its been years since my last V8 (VB SLE)..so I am sure I will have a few questions to ask.
SPECS: 5.7 with OTR and maffless tune. 278KW
6 speed Manual.
HSV extractors with Xforce system.
Heavy Duty clutch.
King Springs (not sure about shocks)
20" Bob Jane "Torque" wheels with 225/35 front 245/35 rear.
DD DVD audio with upgraded speakers.
Red Leather interior.
Hard Lid.
Cheers
Scott.

mmmmm, the vu has to be the best looking ute by far, spesh in black, ide buy myself if i hadnt invested so much money in my ss i have now. what future plans you got for it mate
interior looks awesome mate. very clean looking car.
Sensational looking ute mate!! Good pickup!!
I'd ask how much you paid for it... But I've seen this one on uniquecarsales.![]()
Thanks for the comments. I swapped a nice black VE Omega for the ute..with two other commodores in the driveway (Sons VT and Girls VX).. the Omega was much too sensible a car.. and I wanted something to really drive as well as missing the space to cart stuff about when needed ( car before VE was a wagon).
The ute already has all the good stuff done..which is one of the reasons that made it so appealing to me..
As far as future plans go...being lowered with big wheels..I really would like to get the best suspension set up I can..I love the look but hate the bumps..so I will be checking out whats the best way to go for best ride while retaining the look (your thoughts much appreciated) ..It also has an after market DVD/audio system but it sounds a little average so i will look at upgrading the speakers perhaps putting in a sub..and also ..I want to find a way to put stuff in the back..without it sliding around all over the place on the plastic tub liner..
The other good thing about the VU is that there are heaps of aftermarket stuff for them..VE bits are still a bit light on the ground (such as alltezza tail lights)..and things are cheaper.
I've screwed 3 plastic tubs in the back of my ute to stop my tools sliding around. I've only screwed them into the plastic liner so I didn't have to worry about hitting anything below the bodywork.
Awsome ute mate. Love the interior.
What springs do you have in the back if you don't mind me asking.....not sure what to put in back of mine to get sill level.......yours is perfect
hey mate, lovely looking setup you have there
specially the red leather and black! way to go
im assuming the 278kw is flywheel kw?
lol and if it is rwkw, im expecting thered be a little bit more under the hood than a mafless tune
id say coilover suspension is the best way to go mate, its what ill be getting as soon as i can afford it
gives the best handling, lowering, and great adjustiability in terms of height etc,
but not cheap.(about 2500 for Pedders XA)
good luck with it mate
i just bought my self a VU II SS to but your a lucky bastard with the leather seats haha...
hey guys new to the forum and i myself have a 02 vu II ss ute cloth trim lucky bugger lol looks nice i am going thru the suspension worries on mine and i had the extreme coil ovas lined up from pedders but unless ya got track work intentions dont bother and if u hate bumps then dont go coil ovas it aint worth the trouble bilstein or even a k-mac suspension package will be ideal for you
welcome to jc danz_ss this is a really good site i have already learnt heaps and u will aswell
ascottaudio very nice car indeed love the leather interior
This is my old VU SS here is a build up thread from proutes:
Team proUTES ~ Street, Show & Go ~
and it only made 233rwkw
233rwkw is pretty decent for a tune exhaust and that mate. it always varies but thats fairly norm
i was very happy with my vu ss on the dyno on shell vpower it made 206rwkw stock and ended up making 255rwkw had full twin x-force exhaust otr and tune guys at s&s racing did a gr8 job
