A very tidy ride for your first mate, look after her, n she'l look after you, happy motoring!![]()
cheers mate im absolutely stoked about finding a manual, me and dad took her for a bit of a shake down this morning.... exhaust sounds so good!
haha.. Kewl![]()
Yeah not easy to find a manual, even harder to find one still in good nick, at a good price.. lol
ok so i have a fairly substantial update, but not of the good kind unfortunately...
its already down with the insurance people but im worried that the chrome grilles and strip above the front bar weren't standard, can anybody tell me for sure whether they were or not?
:S what happened there mate?

my dad span it coming out of a roundabout and hit a concrete block that was next to somebodies driveway, dont get it back til the 28th because of all the hail damaged cars. needless to say im shattered![]()
the chrome grills and strip dont usually come with an s-pac i believe, although the grills u can get from any wreckers for about 50 bucks (vt calais grilles) and the chrome stip cna be baught of ebay or any wreckers for like 10 bucks. hope that helps mate.
yeah thanks mate i just hope that they replace what was on it or just use the original bits that were on it because as you can see the strip is pretty much fine and i cant remember if the grilles were broken or not. it'd be a pain to have to buy another strip but i guess i'll see what happens, will post another update once ive been to see the car at the shop
the car is finally home! the bloody panel beaters had it nearly as long as i did before the crash but now its home and they did a really good job.
after having gone for a quick drive this morning im realizing how hard the sl springs are and im beginning to wonder if its meant to be as hard as mine is, does anyone have a vt on sl's that could tell me what theirs is like?
Cheers Sam
Glad to hear the car is back going well mate!

thanks mate im stoked the guy who had it before me at one stage had ultra lows all round so the bottom of the old bar was torn to shreds and i got all new parts so some good came out of it lol
clean looking ride mate, are they the standard VT II SPAC mags. Cause they are the same as my VX lumina lol
Got any new things on the go mate?
cheers for the comment mate, im not sure if they are the VT s-pac mags i always thought they were. ive got a few plans in the making at the moment, one of my dads mates has a set of FE2 springs hes not using which we're gonna put in as the springs in it at the moment are really really hard when you go over ripples in the road it shakes the pedals so thats coming out and we may be getting a re-tint for the windows as well
Nice car mate, Interior looks Schmick, and the rim's were standard on both VT S-Pack's and VX S1 Luminas
thanks for clearing that up mate wasnt sure about the mags i just assumed they were s-pack ones
fitted up the sound system on the weekend, was a bit of a bitch of a job because the previous owner decided to use random wires for his old headunit making the job 10 times harder but now the sub, splits (front doors), stockies (back doors) and 6x9s (parcel shelf) are all wired up to the new heaunit and it sounds mint. i'll put up some pics up when i get the chance
clean car mate, looks like the ve brake upgrade didnt help your dad much in the long run lol
i have a vt s pack as my first car too mate, they are awesome
keep it up
haha yeah all my mates made that same call, the crash wasn't really due to the brakes we think the springs or maybe the diff were to blame. im gonna change the springs at some point probably after i get some bigger rims so i dont have to lower it again
removed photos throughout the thread because it didnt really look like that anymore after the crash, added some updated pics and info to the OP
Cheers Sam
When you put in the superlows did you have to take out the stock shockers and put new ones in?
the car is still sitting as it was when we bought it, that is a very good point though because as ive learned from the sound system the previous owner hasnt always done the job properly. would super lows coupled with stock shocks make the car very rigid? when you push down on any quater there is almost no give at all
UPDATE: since its been a while i thought id put up the stuff ive done recently, i havent got many photos and there on my phone but until i get a camera ill just have to live with it.
- New head unit, Kenwood KDC-U546BT, its got Ipod/phone integration, Blue tooth and all that good stuff.
VY SS pedals, accelerator was a bitch but they look awesome, and i might be imagining it but they seem to give better feedback as well.
