heres my 1999 v6 vt sedan in white, definately could do with a respray but for now its my daily driver so it will do. its lowered with dobi ultra lows(rear) and super lows(front) sits on 17'' vx ss rims after my mate bought his storm and decided he liked the 18'' ss rims i spent hours polishing more than me, so we traded(hes a good mate) besides 17'' rubber is much cheaper to spin up...
its all stock in the go and department and the same with brakes etc, does have a very worn very tired lsd though...(needs replacement or rebuild)
car has just turned over 250,000ks so just run in really. in the future i will color code skirts(or just repaint altogether), possibly go lower, and buy another 3.8 to rebuild with a little forced induction, would also love to ditch the auto box in favour of something with 5gears and a clutch pedal.
not a bad ride mate, you thought about putting an ss or clubby kit onto it? or are you just going to throw the force fed 3.8 into it and make it look like your just borrowing a parents car? (go the sleepers)
nice one dude!
i was looking at going lower so dont really want to be pulling kits off all the time(ive done this in the past, it gets frustrating) was going to color code this for a start and see how it looks a little more dumped, besides fibreglass kits are horrible and genuine stuff costs a fortune second hand, im from nz, and over here the dealers dont let you buy hsv parts without vin code etc.... if i do get a get id like a genuine vx11 hsv and change to the headlights ive got sitting here from work. what have others done to get there sedans lower than ultra/superlows? my shocks are almost flogged out and thought about compressing springs with shorter shocks....
cheers guys
im a panelbeater by trade so managed to grab a couple parts from work(stuff that doesnt get used or double ups when we get second hand parts they arent always stripped right down)
got a vx bootlid garnish which ill paint white and see how it looks and maybe upgrade the tailights at some point. also got some stock grills from the front bumper ill cut up and change.
also got a set of vx11 headlights which only need a couple of the tabs plastic welded up and should be fine, will see what the future brings here...
also just did a full service myself of all fluids/filters etc. my diff oil was very silvery, which would explain the clunking noises i get from back there.
just thought the factory intake looked so small and restrictive.... basically added two flexible pipes into either side of the airbox and into the hole of the front bumper
heres the pics
surely its got to help somewhat.... on idle i put my hand over the pipes and can feel them sucking, so surely at 100km/hr it must force a bit in there, oh and added k&n panel filter as you can see
Install it better then just cable tied in and thats a cool conversion mate![]()
maybe try looking for something to cover the pipes like a really fine mesh to stop birds, cane toads and especially small children being sucked in by the awesome power of the eco-tec :P
good to see this thing is moving along mate, as for the springs the only way to go lower than ultra lows is to have the springs compressed, talk to adrianz, his vt was rolling on compressed ultra lows untill he was canaried for being to low
im lucky in nz we dont have cane toads ad there should be less children and birds on the roads anyhow, agreed something better than cable ties would be good but theres not much room there and you dont so much notice it when standing next to the car but we will see... i found a set of HSD coilovers for $1900nzd which seemed appealing as my shocks are fairly shagged too, but i do have other projects and looking at buying a house so time will tell
what sort of things need to be done to fit ls1 and six speed apart from wiring, plumbing, exhaust etc... as far as mounting goes? do i scab ls1 enigne and box crosss members? any other issues anyone has come across?
