Finally the diff is run in. Also picked up a GTech cheap on ebay so tried it out.

I only had 1 run. 2 people in the car.
    0-100km in 5.29secs
    1/4 mile 13.35 secs

I left the traction control on and didn't stall it up. Basically trac control kicked in for all of 1st and most of 2nd so better tyres would help a lot. But I'm still pretty happy with the numbers.

    edit:
I though I would post the 0-100 history as a group
    Stock 0-100 7.2secs (stop watch)
    1 3/4 - 4 into 1 Extracts/ 3 inch Cats/Twin 2.5 inch Exhaust all using XForce 0-100 6.8secs (stop watch)
mafless tune 0-100 6.2 seconds. (stop watch)
    4.11 diff 0-100 5.29 (GTech)

Wonder how much better I could get with decent tyres. Also I hope I can get towards a 13 flat.

thats a good effort mate. 13.3 with just a tune. not to bad. 4.11 would be a bit to high wouldnt it. first gear would be useless yeah??? I am looking at going 3.46 manual diff for mine.

tune + extractors/cats/exhaust + DuSpeed OTRCAI + 4.11, also the car has about 120,000km on it so I expect it to be a bit better than one with a lot more kms

I love the 4.11 diff, it has totally transformed the car. We went for a drive to the next country town (about 50km away) today and sat on 100km/h no problems. I wouldn't like to drive around Aust but for mainly town driving I'm loving it.

I've got heaps of info on my website for diff ratios http://home.exetel.com.au/qldkev/ . But 5,500rpm in 1st for each diff ratio.
    3.07 3.45 3.73 3.91 4.11
    71.0 63.2 58.4 55.7 53.0

So 3.45 is 63kmh, while the 4.11 still gets you 53kmh in first. Traction is currently an issue, but I'm going to replace my back tyres (they are almost on the wear indicators) and get something a bit stickier.

I would def recommend going at least 3.73 for a VX A4. If your ever up Bundy way I'll take you for a spin and I think you will go 3.91 or 4.11 after it

Nice work dude, that'd be awesome fun!

I'd love to buy a new diff.
Saw an Ebay store selling recon ones with whatever diff gears you want for about $850 I think.
Needa sort my trans out first I think though and refrain from spending money on the car for a while! hahaha

Would love too, but the $ may mean it will be awhile before I can do it. Hopefully next year I'll get a high stall. I think the stall would be great with some decent tyres to get a huge jump off the line.

Def a lot more fun now. Totally a different car from stock. I got mine from an ebay dude. Was worried but though compared to quoted of $3,000 for a rebuild (needed gears and lsd) I though it was worth a shot. It did have a whine under load for the few hundred km but now it's all good. Mine was $950 + post.

To knock 1sec off for the 0-100km was better than I expected. But I did change from stop watch to GTech times.

yeah would be 4k i reckon fitted for a cam and histall and a re-tune, if you could hook up on street tyres you could get low 12's
but with a decent sized cam and slicks id think mid 11's would be more accurate

might have to check out the Ebay one if I decide to take the plunge and do it down the track.
Gotta hold off doing anything to the car (Major stuff), for a little while though I think!

If i am ever in bundy mate i will let u know. The only thing stopping me from going 3.9 or 4.11 is i am going the hair dryer route. I have been told that 4.11 are just useless with turbo. Just spins every gear. I might look into some 3.7. See what happens. Wanna do my diff and gearbox at the same time. 3000rpm stally and billet servo with a shift kit. And my diff rebuilt with gears as my lsd is worn out hard. lol.

The turbo changes things. You want either a 3.45 or 3.73 for street use as they help the turbo spool up better. I don't know all the crap behind it as I haven't dug that deep into it. You would be better off talking to someone who has been down that route. That amount of power on street tyres and a 4.11 diff, I think the tyres would be fried in a hurry.

The back tyres were almost down to their wear indicators, so before I get new tyres I though we would try the relatively new Maxxis ma-v1 from the front on the back to see how they hold up. So I swapped them over and got out to my mates property.

Only me in the car, using GTech.
    0-100km in 5.00 secs (yep 5 flat)
    1/4 mile 13.03 secs

I'm still having issues with traction in first and getting into second, so I'm still leaving trac control on. It could be because his driveway is pretty smooth as it is hotmix or whatever they call it.

I'm looking at putting the maxxis back on the front, and get some decent sports tyres for the rear. Looking at the Yokohama advan sport, but am worried how long they will last being such a soft compound.

I think with the correct tyres it will go a 12.xx run.

Got my new Kumho tyres fitted up, they grip heaps better than anything else I've had on the car.
Went out this morning, only had 1 run, first time I've tried with Trac Cntrl OFF, ran a 12.72
    0-100 was 4.63

WOOHOO - I'm soo wrapped, smiling so much; If I was a chick I'd have lipstick on my ears.

One day, I may try for the 11. Pretty happy with the run as it stands.

How long before you start your engine mods?

Quick update, I got questioned for a pic of the GTech showing the numbers from another forum. So I went back to the track to run it again. Temp was 16 down from 19, also this time the fuel light came on just before the run so nice and light. I had the best grip/launch ever, I ran a 12.59 @ 111mph

Pic showing GTech with the run (sorry about the dodge phone pic)

This is a lot better than I expected for the mods. I can't stop smiling

Not much has been happening with the car.

Got a new Double DIN Kenwood stereo fitted up to replace the crappy 'HSD Premium Sound' one. Can't believe, that since no speakers or anything else was changed, how much better it sounds.
