Sorry I posted this topic and it did not show up in my browser; so I thought it had failed.

    Here's some pics.

    Got the exhaust done.
    1 3/4 - 4 into 1 Extracts/ 3 inch Cats/Twin 2.5 inch Exhaust all using XForce
    0-100 6.8secs

Have now fitted up the OTRCAI and Mafless tune. (finished last night)
So have to get out to the property with the are to time it; as I want to keep the exact same area.

Nice neat looking Berlina you got there mate. I will be curious to see your time when you do it because I am running the same set up in my car (minus the extractors and cats)

    Bit of an update;
went out to my mates place the other night and we tried a couple of 0-100 runs.
(My wife driving as I had a couple of beers, and my son on the stop watch)
First run 6.2 secs, but not a very good launch.
Second pass 5.3 and it spun most the way.
Third run hit 65km/h and oil light flashed - so she didn't continue.

I checked the oil level and it was sitting on add. So let it cool a little and added some oil. At this stage it was getting dark, so no more attempts. Hopefully should be back out there this weekend so will get some proper times done. If I can get low 5.? I will be happy.

What does everyone think, should I do the paint stripper to chrome the front grill or does it look cheap?

Yer, but grab a series 2 grille, look much better!

Nice looking Berlina mate, not a fan of the chev badges. Each to their own I guess!

Wow thats quite impressive with 3 people in the car, you sure thats right? Anything in the 5's is quite rapid, up there with E series HSV's

I want to do the test in mine, just out of curiosity!

I'll have to find out the difference in the series 1 and 2, do you know of any pics?
With the Chev badges I though it would be cool as being the berlina has the longer bumpers etc.

Nope, only 2 poople in the car, I was sitting back having a beer. The only thing I'm thinking it did break traction into 2nd so maybe just the back tyres hit 100km/h?

Hopefully this weekend I'll get some proper times. My rule is normally 3 passes and if they vary more than 0.1sec it's time to review my procedure.

Yeah quite possibly. I have noticed this in mine a couple of times, its enough to hit 100kmh. Also in mine, taking off even from 1000rpm with the trac control off it just spins the rears until you lift off, but I reckon around 6 flat to 100

Ok, cleaned up the standard grill. Looked at the Series II but being egg crate I thought it looked too much like the VT (but one piece)

Yes the car needs a clean, but the pic was taken about 10mins ago.

ps. I love my Chev badges

I was going to say not to have a full chrome grill, but it looks good on the series 1, I don't think mine would look good all chrome. Now you gotta do something with those headlights, maybe a black surround?
BTW I have that chev badge on the front of mine as well and I reckon it looks good on the Berlinas. So there everyone

Got any pics for the black surround so I can see what you mean. Also the grill does look a closer color to the head lights, in the pic it is picking up more red from the car.

I agree on the berlina the chev badge rocks

Have a look at the pics on my ride for the dark headlights. They are straight off a VX II Calais. Really improved the look of the front of the car!

OK, today we tried some times.

    3 passes 0-100 all average 6.2 seconds.
the car feels a lot quicker than that. but with street tyres and trac control on. this is the pass.

We did have a couple of warm up laps,
    no trac control, smoke everywhere.

With a better diff ratio and tyres I think I could be in for a lot better pass.
being able to stall it up a lot more with out tyre spin would be great.

I'll drive it a couple of more weeks and see if we can get a better time. I was really hoping to get into the 5's

edit: I should add being a berlina I don't have a LSD . Those holmart 3.73 LSD diff are looking good.

Bumping my old thread up again. Not much has changed with the car. But last night I bit the bullet and purchased a recon 4.11 LSD diff for it. With the A4 the ratio will be a bit of a short ratio for country driving, but it is pretty rare for me to go more than 20 to 30km from home. It will be 2 to 3 weeks by the time I get it, fit it up and get the PCM adjusted to suit. But hoping it should make a good difference to getting of the line. I really want to get a 5.? 0-100km run.

The LSD should make a big difference to your times.Did you get yours dynoed for the mafless tune or the one where they send you out the computer already done? I want to get mine done but just need to research it a bit more.
    Cheers

I spent way too much time researching tunes before getting mine done. I live in a country town and up here I would not trust them to touch my car.

I ended up with Steve from OzTrack and went the 'mail order', 'mafless' tune. I had a look at the ebay tunes and although they are cheaper they don't have proven results (some claim stupidly high values from what's know as a happy dyno). From my research OzTrack is the number 1 mail order tune in Australia. (no affiliation, except I have my car tuned by them) With OzTrack you tell him the exact setup of your car, intake, exhaust, diff, manual/auto, etc and you get a tune including upper and lower tables to suit; not just a miracle one tune does all. OzTrack with my setup is known to get around 225rwkw. I heard a lot of stories about a power gain and better fuel economy, at the time they sounded like bullshit; I can now vouch for it being true. (over the last 4,500km I have averaged 13.9L/100km, which is a lot better than before the tune; I can now easily get 10L/100 in the country)

With the LSD to help hold traction and a change from 3.07 to 4.11 (being a 33.9% torque improvement) I think it will really make a difference. I just need to get the PCM back to OzTrack to adjust the numbers to suit the new diff ratio.

If you dont mind me asking how much did the mail order Mafless tune set you back from OzTrack?

I went for the DuSpeed OTRCAI + tune pack, it was $1,050 posted.

    Looking here
Remote Internet & Mail Tunes - OZTRACK Pty.Ltd. - VT-VE Commodore & HSV Tuning specialists.
I see the pack is now $1,100
but if you want just the tune it is $400

OR for an option that was not available at the time I got mine done
Autocal Remote Tune VT-VE with factory camshaft (ACRT) by Oztrack Tuning - OZTRACK Pty.Ltd. - VT-VE
which is what I think I may have gone for.

I got the 4.11 diff in the other day. It says to run it in for 1,000km so it will be a while before I see how it changed the 0-100 time; but the car feels a lot more responsive driving around.
