Default My HSV VT GTS 220i - I Just Got One!

    Hey there guys,

I picked up my first HSV a few months ago and just havent gotten around to putting something up on here. It's a Series 1 VT GTS with the 5.7L Stroker. Spent a fair bit on it since i got her because i'm a perfectionist and want it running perfectly. here are the specs of the car:

    HSV VT GTS Build #129
    Rego: GTS-129
5.7L 220KW Stroker Motor (rear resonator removed)
    6 Spd Manual
124,000kms (Motor rebuilt at 60,000kms by HSV.)
    Performance Brakes
    Hydratrak LSD
    Premium Sound System
    Full Leather Coulson Interior
    Sunroof.

Here is the list of what I have done to it:

    2 new tyres
    Original HSV 6spd Gearknob
Series 2 Taillights and side repeaters
    Nolathane Bushes all round
    New link pin set
    New Clutch and flywheel
    New Bendix Ultimate Pads
New DBA 6x6 Wiper Slot Performance Discs
    MACE engineering CAI
    MACE engineering 70mm Throttle Body
    Greenfoam Tune

    Pics are attached.

Feel free to ask any questions or comments.

    Thanks for checking it out.

    Aren't the Holden strokers actually a 5.8ltr?
    LS1 is 346ci and is 5.7ltr
HSV is 355ci which should be 5.8 or so .

Either way, I'd love one, those motors are better then the early LS1's IMO.

thanks for the comments guys. Ever since these were brand new and I was 10, i've wanted one.

Yeah the original motor had piston slap, so it was taken back to Suttons under warranty, and it was rebuilt by HSV engineers. Have to log book and service notes to prove it. pretty reassuring!

@Darcon666 - How do you know the car? from the previous owner Charlie?

@macca86 - That was an awesome cruise mate. what were you driving there?

In the next few weeks i'm getting the wheels remanufactured. fully repaired of gutter rash and marks and wheels repainted in fresh champagne gold. Then also a 2.5" catback to free it up a tiny bit more. (really it's just for the noise!!) although with the CAI and the rear muffler removed now, it sounds so angry at WOT!

Will try and take some vids of it soon and more pics to post up here.

do you have an exhaust on yours 1998GTS?

Very nice mate. There's a black one getting around up my way (Nth Vic). They're a beautiful car for sure.

lol, engineers don't get their hands dirty. They just point and tell the real workers what to do and how to do it.

    Thanks for the comments guys.

Yeah your right about engineers, i suppose they were mechanics once upon a time though.

@hamatime - Yeah mate has a bit more poke, and a lot more comfortable. How is the S going? I see you've got some MACE parts running through it now, nice!

contemplating going for the full exhaust this week as i've got the modifying bug back again. thinking pacies into a twin 2.5" system. will have to see what he can do on price for me though. Anyone reckon $1000 all up is out of the question?

I'll keep the pics coming and more updates as things happen. getting a few minor things fixed on wednesday like boot release and power window switch, all those little but annoying things!!

Not always the case, usually the only good engineers are the ones with a 'hands on' background.
    Most are theoretical mechanics lol

I still love your car though mate
