Hello everyone. My name is Rick. I'm from Chardon, Ohio, USA. This is my GTO.
2005 Pontiac GTO
63,xxx Miles
6.0L LS2
M6 T56
Black leather
Midnight Blue Metallic paint
Mostly stock, SLP Loudmouth exhaust, VaraRam OTR CAI, and my piece of garbage B&M short shifter.
A little bit of stereo system work, 2 - 8" Kicker Comp woofers in the rear deck, Kicker 6 1/2" components in the doors and dash, a pair of Kicker 6 1/2" speakers in the quarter panels and a little two channel Kicker amp for the woofers. (I got a good deal on Kicker from a sale at Crutchfield!)
I figured I would sign up on an Australian forum, as most of the US GTO forums aren't focused on the same aspects of the car that I am. The Americans are strict muscle car guys. I like a little bit of everything, and my style does not fit in with theirs. I'm also looking for some information of some Australian OEM and aftermarket parts I have been looking at, and where better than right here?
I'm not a fan of the GTO front bumper cover, and I prefer the single side exit rear bumper versus the dual exhaust that came on my car from the factory. So part of the plan for this car will be turning it back into a Monaro. Not sure what model i'd like to try and recreate, but it won't be a Pontiac. Also, I like my cars low. Real low.
So, thats what i've got. We will see where it goes from here!
I just had two questions for right now...
I'm looking at trying to acquire a set of Lovells Super Low springs, and I was curious if anyone was running them on their car.
Also, I saw this dashboard here...

I LOVE these fold out cupholders! What cars came with this trim piece? I'd really like to find one for my car!
Nice looking GTO there mate
I'd love one myself but can't afford one so I'll stick to my VX Berlina for now
That dash I think is from a VY or VZ Commy
I do what I do, Not because I have to, Not because I want to, But because I can
Thanks!
I really wish we got more of these cars imported. Your car is very sharp, I love the lines of the body.
I looked at an '04 LS1 GTO a few years ago when they were newer, but never got around to buying one. This one popped up as a trade in at my buddies Chevy dealership, and I just had to have it.
real nice mate, looks good with the back wheel tucked under the guard.
I don't know that the single exhaust outlet will work on your car mate. The Fuel tanks are different between the CV8 and CV8Z (GTO) Monaro's. On the old CV8's they had the Australian style tank that takes up more room under the boot (trunk). That's why they run the pipes down one side.
If you're not a fan of the pontiac front end, have a look at this.

That's a HSV GTO. HSV is tuning company for Holden, which is basically Australians version of Chev/Pontiac. Looks better IMO.
Or this, which is the standard CV8Z front end from Holden;
Which still looks better then the pontiac front end IMO.
I've also seen people put the late model VY and VZ fronts on Monaro's which looks good too.
Hsv gto front bar ftw !
They're both on par I think.
Both have totally different appeals.
Thanks for the replies guys.
The exhaust should work either way, the LS1 04 GTO we got had the single side exhaust. All the US spec cars have the gas tank inside the trunk. I have a huge amount of room under the car because of this, but the trunk is nearly useless.
I'm not a huge fan of the HSV GTO bodywork. I like the lines of the stock car. The CV8Z front end looks real mean, and JHP exports them to the US so they are somewhat easy to get my hands on. Its incredibly hard finding companies or people that will ship things to the US for me.
Welcome to the forum mate. nice ride.

If you're willing to pay for it, I've no issue walking into Holden buying and sending it to you.
The cup holders came out in the higher end vehicle's, Berlina and Calais. Easily available from a Holden dealership.
On the topic of front ends, this is the later model front end that I've seen fitted to some Monaro's.
Probably not the cheapest option though!
I have to agree with you though, the CV8Z front end is allot cleaner.
Very nice looking Goat there mate.
cheers

Thanks for the offer! I may take you up on that. The currency exchange rate is in my favor right now, so I should probably jump on it before the USD hits the fan. :P
I really dig that front end, but it looks like it belongs more on a VE. I don't think it would flow to well with my rounded tail lights.
To be honest, I like this front end better than the CV8Z.
Is that a CV6? And the CV8 had the more aggressive front end? Did any of the other variants have different front bumpers? Was the Chevy Lumina all the same except for the grille?
Should be fitted this Monday. Advertised 1.4" F and 1.2" R drop. (35mm and 30mm)
Nice looking ride mate, the height is just about right i reckon.
Ever considered swapping the tail lights to a monaro or hsv gto style light? It is a common upgrade overhere and will look great.
also, have you ever taken the wing off, these things always look better with a clean boot or a small lip rather than the big wing.
anyway nice car!
