    Default This is my want to be VT V6 racer!

    Hi there everyone,

    This is my 1998 Bermuda Blue VT V6, I am building it to be a circuit car, I hope you like it.

    ENGINE MODS:

    * NGK Iridium spark plugs.
    * Bosch motor sport racing leads.
    * MSD Ignition coils.
    * Aunger CAI.
    * Heat wrapped intake piping.
    * K&N panel filter.
    * Ported throttle body.
    * 9mm Throttle body spacer.
    * Port matched/mildly ported plenum chamber to T/B and Intake Manifold.
    * 14mm plenum spacer.
    * 12mm manifold spacer.
    * 1.9/1.95 ratio Roller Rockers 1.9 on intake and 1.95 on exhaust.
    * Powerdyne supercharger with 9psi pulley.
    * 450x300x70mm intercooler with 3" inlets. (Not fitted yet)

    EXHAUST:

    * Pacemaker extractors tuned length design.
    * 2.5" redback exhaust with no rear resonator.
    * I have two 200cpsi magnaflow cats waiting to be installed.

    FUEL SYSTEM:

    * 36lb injectors. (Need to install and get a tune to suit them)
    * Mini T-Rex external fuel pump.

    TRANSMISSION:

    * Standard 4L60E.
    * But I have one on the side getting built up at the moment, so far I have a trans-go shift kit, 2nd and 4th gear sonnax billet servo's + longer pin and will be getting a lot more goodies put in to make it reliable.

    SUSPENSION:

    * DMS Gold 40mm coil overs.
    * Whiteline adjustable swaybars front and rear.
    * Whiteline strut brace.
    * Superpro bushes all round.

    BRAKES:

    * Front: AP racing 4 pot calipers.
    * DBA 4000 series slotted 330x28mm rotors.
    * Goodridge stainless steel braided lines and Ferodo DS2500 pads.

    * Rear: Stock PBR brakes.
    * Goodridge stainless steel braided lines.
    * Ferodo DS performance brake pads.
    * DBA slotted rotors.
    * AP racing 600 Racing brake fluid.

    TIRES:

    * PIRELLI PZERO NERO.

    DIFFERENTIAL:

    * True-trac LSD with 3.45:1 diff gears.

    INTERIOR:

    * Stock, but wanting to do some kind of bucket seat setup and 4 or 5 point racing harness.
    * 500g fire extinguisher.

    EXTERIOR:

    * AMG 17" rims. (I think)
    * VY clubsport body kit.
    * Aftermarket Fog lights.
    * Painted calipers red.
    * Clear side indicators.

    FUTURE MODS:

    * Tint windows.
    * Fit charger. (Done)
    * Modifications to the heads. (three angle valve grind, larger valves, cleaning of the bowls)
    * Cam upgrade.
    * New headlights.

    More than half of the money to mod this car has gone towards the suspension/handling setup of it.

    PICTURES:
    pic taken before suspension, fog lights and mesh were installed and P plates removed

    More pics to come!!

    sounds like a lot of work has been put into this mate, must go pretty hard for an ecotec.
    can't say i'm a fan of the bodykit, i'm personally not into putting newer kits on older models, but that's just me.
    when is this charger going on?

    Haha cheers for the replies, the kit was on it when I got it so I'm didn't put it on lol, plus there's not that many around so it kind of stands out a little bit.

    Cost so far on mods alone $6903 (not including the charger) that was $855, I will add the charger to the total when it's fitted. $4235 of which is suspension mods!!

    soop no dyno results as yet, but not so far away. I would love to take it to the strip except I don't live near one.

    tim005 the charger isn't far off from being fitted, I'm just waiting for installation instructions from capa, a reply from Greenfoam and also waiting to go back to work to pick up the ultrasonic cleaner to clean my new injectors with.

    $6903 on modding a V6? JESUS! For less than the cost of your mods, you could have had a V8 like this... Which would be WAY nicer to drive.

    Keen to know power figures once the charger is on. Keep us posted.

    Meh I would have been nice to see something along those lines when I bought my car 2 years ago, and something that was local and not interstate. I do hate the look of a standard VT with no kit on it, just hate it lol

    You have also taken it out of context to mind you, $3523 has been spent on the engine mods alone that's including the charger. $4235 is suspension mods, which can be taken off and put into a V8 or if I was to upgrade to one in the future with the original body, so there's no loss there.

    Yeah mate once the charger is on I will post the results up, including a scan of the sheet.

    Cheers

    car looks nice man not a huge fan on the kit only coz there was and still is a stage where every man and his dog was puttin on the SS and clubby kits on but at least ur making it ur own even if its a V6. Only thing i would add is some mesh in the front bars grill 2 hide the radiator.

    how do u find the tred? i got them on mine atm and they seem 2 b fairly decent.

    I've already put the mesh on the front, looked ugly as all hell before it!
    Yeah the tires are good so far I've only had them on for 1 week now, but they grip very well I guess they'd want to with a 220 tread wear rating lol

    i think the kit is an improvement on a standard VT. Although, still not a big fan

    At least you have spent the money on good areas like suspension.

    Keen to see the charger on and some results

    Yeah I'm sick of seeing people have all the power in the world and have your average suspension!
    I'm soon to start purchasing bit's for a little brake upgrade.

    Thought I would update my progress so far.
    I have received a price for the braces $949 for both.
    I am buying a front AP racing 330mm brake upgrade kit for my car on the 26th of this month, I cant wait for it!

    I love that most of your money has gone into handling and suspension. Must handle like it's on rails with the pirelli's.

    Thanks Kieran it handles very well indeed especially now with the pirelli's on. Now I just need to hook into the brakes, stiffening braces and supercharger

    This is true. i would rather nothing more than a ss or clubsport kit on the car. but because there are so many i went the less popular option. manta kit. now all i see are vt's with hbd manta kits on them.

    These are my new parts that I have got for my car recently:

    * Trans-go stage 2 shift kit.
    * Sonnax Billet 2nd and 4th gear servo pistons and a longer servo pin.
    * AP racing 4 piston 330mm front brake upgrade. Consisting of: 2x AP racing CP5200 calipers, Ferodo racing DS2500 brake pads, 2x Goodridge st/steel braided brake hoses, and 2x DBA 4000 series slotted 330x28mm rotors.

    I plan to put the brakes in soon and then get more parts for the gearbox, to handle the supercharger and a lot of abuse.
