Thanks for the comment mate Yeah I think I will go with the Caprice Grille, I already bought it brand new from Holden so I may as well. Yeah I am very happy with the stereo, looks good, sounds awesome haha.

UPDATE: It has been 6 months, and the bluetooth module still isn't connected up. Anyway, I decided that i'm going to go back to JB Hi Fi (where I bought everything from), and start annoying them so I can finally get it installed. So this is the story of what happened (if your interested) to keep you up to date.

Took the car in to get the GPS, Reverse Camera and Bluetooth Module installed.

Went to pick up the car, GPS and Reverse Camera installed, but they couldn't install the bluetooth because I needed to buy another cable.

They called up Alpine and Alpine Dealers, they had no stock, but they could get them. It would take up to a month to get it.

-Up to this point, I was fine with it.-

A month went by, I called them up, still haven't received the cable yet.

Then I got busy and a couple more months went by.

We still haven't heard anything about the cable, we will call you when it comes in.

So after Christmas, in the new year, I went back to JB Hi Fi.

The cable hasn't come in. So I say, well it doesn't look like we are getting it then, if Alpine has no stock then thats it.

So anyway, I got on the internet and found one. I sent the guy selling it a message asking if it would work with my bluetooth module and headunit (just to make sure). He said, "no, you will either have to buy a later model headunit or the other bluetooth module (mine was the KCE-250BT, I needed KCE-400BT).

So I called up JB Hi Fi and asked them if they would refund my KCE-250BT, and they said yes. So I straight away bought the KCE-400BT and the cable off the same guy on the internet (price was heaps better).

Now I am going to go back to JB Hi Fi on Saturday and get the refund on the bluetooth module, and see when they can install this other one.

Reason I couldn't use the KCE-250BT was because I would lose the iPod cable (I use that constantly).

So hopefully I will finally have that soon and I wont have to pull over when I get a phone call.

On another note, when I am off my P's, I am going to sell the Magna, and buy a Ford G6E Turbo. I have driven two later model Fords this week (a G6 and a G6E), and they are a very nice car to drive. Both of them are company vehicles (not where I work though). I was going to get a Holden Colorado, but after driving the Fords, I quickly changed my mind.

Oh and by the way, I cleaned the MAF sensor on my Statesman, didn't notice much difference in power but did in fuel economy.

UPDATE: My Statesman will be going up for sale shortly, if anyone is interested just let me know. The only thing it needs for a roadworthy is to be raised (suspension). If I get the right price then I will sell it with the stereo system and sigs.

Never thought I would be saying this, but my Statesman is now advertised for sale. I am in no hurry to sell it, but I just hope I get a good price for it.

Hey guys, I have come to the realisation that I am an idiot and I don't know what I was thinking. I am not ready to sell it car yet and the longer I had it advertised, the more I didn't want to sell it (lasted a week). I would rather sell the Magna and save up the money to buy another car, not sell the Statesman to get one.

    So anyway, the updates continue.

Today I purchased a new A/C Compressor from Holden (apparently they have them again), and a new chrome wheel nut cover (one was missing). Very soon I will be ordering a new radiator as mine is starting to leak (not dripping, car is still able to be driven on long trips), and I am still going to be fitting the Caprice exterior door handles, door moulds, and new chrome strips. Tomorrow I will be booking it in to get the bluetooth installed and might start looking (again) for some 20 inch rims. Not selling the car anymore so the mods/restoration continues.

    Hey everyone,

So I noticed that I haven't uploaded any updated pics for a while now. Anyway, I felt like going for a cruise on the weekend and ended up going to a few different places, so I took some photos while I was at it, let me know what you think.

UPDATE: I fitted the new A/C Compressor last night after I got home from work, its booked in tomorrow to get re-gased. Next Saturday its booked in to get the bluetooth kit installed. Then after that, i'm going to start saving up to take it to a panel beater to get the Caprice door handles painted and fitted, chrome strips replaced and some other minor repairs done, and am going to look into getting an electric sunroof installed while i'm at it. Also starting to think about changing the engine sump gasket, and replacing the radiator, but none of that is urgent at the moment but needs attention in the future.

UPDATE: Had the A/C regased today so thats all working again. But the radiator started leaking as soon as I got to work and turned the engine off. So now I have bought a brand new radiator, radiator hoses, heater hoses, heater tap, radiator cap, coolant, and stop leak (instead of the pellets). The car has over 200,000kms on it and everything is still what it came out with from the factory so I may as well replace it all.

Today I found another panel beater and got a quote for all the work I want done, and here are the differences in prices:

    Original Panel Beater: $2500
    New Panel Beater: $700

They are the exact prices I was quoted, I haven't made a mistake.

So I might ask him how much he will charge to respray the whole car, and then take it to get the sunroof installed.

Thats about all for now, if anything else happens I will keep this thread updated.

Both JB HIFI and that eBay seller are telling you lies. Probably to get you to spend more money. I've got a Iva-w502e and I'm using KCE-250 BT blue tooth, and yes you do need to buy another cable which is only $30. I got mine through a proper Alpine dealer overnight.

Yeah they said that the KCE-250BT would work, and I needed to get the KWE-460E cable, but I would lose the iPod cable, thats why I have to get the KCE-400BT, now the iPod cable will be plugged into the bluetooth module instead of the headunit.

I haven't seen the back of the headunit so I would be able to tell if they are making stuff up or not.

Nah, the KWE-460E plugs into a different spot to the iPod plug. I wouldn't have used it if I had of lost iPod connectivity.

Thanks for letting me know about that mate, ill look in to it and if I find out that your right, I am going to be even more pissed off with them. They have been stuffing me around for months, I have already paid for the install and everything, and it still isn't even in the car yet. I might even pull out the headunit and have a quick look myself if I get time.

Hey mate, your car looks sooooo good. I love these Statesmans, glad you didn't sell it.

Will you have it or the VS as your daily when you're off your P's?

Hey mate thanks for your comment I am glad I didn't sell it as well, it only got up to $5500 on eBay and there was no way in the world that I would let it go for that much. But in the end I didn't want to sell it anyway, after thinking about it for a while I changed my mind.

When i'm off my P's, I will more then likely be selling the Magna, so the Statesman will probably become my daily (uses heaps less fuel then the VS haha), but in saying that, I will be using the VS a lot more because I will legally be able to drive it.

Fair enough, I suppose the VS would make a really good weekend cruiser... but then again so does the Statesman! Guess that's the kind of dilemma you want :P
$5500 is appalling! If I were looking at buying a car such as yours I'd start a lot higher than that just to try and get you to come down a bit!

Also kudos on the How-To you wrote the other day on servicing, very informative. As my car is at the stage of needing heaps of work, it's nice to do some stuff yourself, and save labour costs. So thanks, very helpful!

Yeah well when the VS still haad the N/A V6, I didn't know what car to go for a cruise in on the weekend haha. I guess i'll just see what happens when the time comes, and how much the petrol prices are.

I couldn't believe it only got up to $5500, I even listed it with the complete stereo system, both sets of wheels, and everything else. Even if it didn't have everything with it, I still wouldn't have sold it for that much. I think people were just bidding for the sake of it haha.

No worries mate. I done a search and found that no-one had done a how to on a service and checkover yet, so I decided I may as well. Plus I was bored haha. But i'm glad its helping people and I will try and keep it up to date.

Have you checked out my other "how to" threads?

    Holden Commodore/Statesman Service Lamp Re-set Procedures VT-VE

VT/VX/VU/VY/WH/WK 3.8L V6 Engine mount removal and replacement

and that Service and Checkover one you are talking about. If I think of anything else I will probably do a write up on that as well.

I'd seen your service reset, I assume you got fed up of a billion people asking how? :P

Stuff like engine mounts, I'm really hoping to do stuff like that one day, hopefully when I need new ones in about 6 years lol. If you do think of something be sure to, you're walkthroughs are very helpful.

Yeah well at one stage, there was people asking how to reset the service reminder everyday, they just kept making new threads. So I decided I may as well make the "how to" thread covering all models.

And yeah I will make more "how to" threads as they come to mind. The engine mount removal wasn't as good because I couldn't take pictures, but ill do my best to make them as helpful as I can.

I have 3 cars that I can use for the photos haha, well actually 2 because theres no point using the Magna.

UPDATE: I finally took the Statesman in to get the Bluetooth kit installed, so thats finally done. Next was going to be sending the car to the panel beaters to get the repairs done and new parts painted and fitted, but my laptop decided to die late last week, so I need to buy a new laptop first.

I am looking at getting a MacBook Pro, but I am thinking of waiting until the new one comes out in April or May. I was also thinking of replacing my Desktop computer with a new 27" iMac.

Anyway, whatever comes up first, either a new computer/laptop or getting the Statesman repaired. New computer that I want is $3000+ each, to get the Statesman repaired is going to be $700+ now because for some reason the boot is twisted now and I can't work out how the #### it happened. You can see on the left side of the boot lid, towards the rear windscreen that there is a gap and on the right side, there is no gap. And a sunroof is still on the list of things to do, just got to find a place close enough to do it.

Yeah its a pretty good price. Thats with the rain sensor, and everything, so it should be good. Yeah if only they picked out that option when it was bought new haha. But because its an ex rental car I suppose they didn't pick many of the options.
