Default PK`s VX Series II SS

Hi , I am new here as I have just purchaced a second hand ( one owner ) 2001 VX series II ss commodore .
    List as purchaced : 98000klms
    1. Pacemaker tri-y headers with x flow 2.5 inch exhaust with high flow cats and mufflers .
    2. HP Designs 19`s wrapped in nexen 245/35/19 sticky rubber .
    3. High flow induction system with larger throttle body [ soon to be replaced with a growler system .
    4. Auto ( advice here would be appreciated on how to tuffen it up and what stall to use ).
    5. Hyper yellow exterior / yellow/black leather interior.

This car will be a slow work in progress , but I am going to aim for 250-300rwkw .(is this reasonable or should I aim for more ?)

Very nice, but do yourself a favor and for go the SS Inductions Growler intake, they are not worth the money they are charging and normally take you backwards in terms of power.
I would be suggesting on of the systems that utilise the stock airbox, and a GTS mafless pipe (i.e. Monaro style CAI) or an OTR style intake from Duspeed, Enhanced Automotive or any one of the number of reputable companies getting around.

I love the interior, looks fantastic!

if your after 250+rwkw i would recommend an over the radiator intake. any brand will be better than a growler intake but i like the vcm stuff.

for 300kw you will need an OTR.

full exhaust, OTR+mafless, largish cam with the auto (comp 232/234 is pretty tried and true, if its a daily though you might want something smaller, as its pretty thirsty), and a stall to match (id recommend upgrading the auto while your at it, with a stall you will need a decent sized transcooler, might want to look at billet servos and stuff as well) and you would pull 300+ kw, fairly easily too. the LS1s love it. oh youd want a set of 3.9 diff gears as well, with slicks with that combo i reckon you could get high 11s. which is fast for a street car.

hey mate wanna sell your front seats,,,, (worth a try)

300rwkw is a great number for a streetable LS1 and it's what i'll be looking at for my VU, Like it has been said, STAY AWAY from the growler systems,, they do sweet jack all and are way to expensive for what they are, look into an OTRCAI, custom tune, diff gears (3.9's), stage 2 shift kit, stallie, and a nice meaty cam, and you'll be easily tapping that kilowatt range
    keep the

    keep the
way to repeat what i said haha.

seriously there is a reason they are called ss reductions

have a look at thejetpilots VX SS, he has probably the largest cam you can have without a histall (a histall wouldnt be a waste of time though, would liven it up a bit), and hes pulling 370hp (275kw) and its still retained its drivability. with a larger cam and stall hed thrash 400hp easy.

yeah true haha, its pretty solid stuff though.
other option would be since youve already got an exhaust is you can just the crap and supercharge it, an off the shelf kit fitted should be around 10k and youd pull 300kw-350kw and still be daily driven, actually youd have better street manners then a cammed LS1.

your going too struggle massively to go 300rwkw with only a cam, need a set of heads on it and bring the comp up too, even really happy dynos dont think iv seen 300rwkw cam only.
taking into account obvious exhaust intake and tune mods here.

    imo
260-280 maybe 290 at the most with a decent size stick, with a manual behind it and maybe few other tricks, higher comp, throttle body, under drives, 1.8 rockers.

Thanks guys for the advice . I am planning on OTR , mafless tune , 232/234 cam , better flowing exhaust, tricked up auto box with streetable stallie , then back mounted turbo and vortex supercharger . Buy price for the ss was $14500.00 . Will need to save a few $$$ for the additions though . Can anyone recommend quality workshop in Brisbane other than power torque as I have heard from a lot of people , whilst doing my homework , they are way overpriced for fitting / tuning / parts / dyno time .
If you don`t want to break it , then don`t bring it out to play with it !

She won`t be seeing any rain as the previous one owner kept her dry for 9.5 years , so I am going to see if I can do it also .

ive seen it happen, been told by a few workshops here in WA they can do it, and like i said thejetpilot is nearly there with just a cam.

Drop it low and get some bigger rims to fill the guards and I think you'll be done to spend the rest on power mods.

Edit: Shit... they're 19"s? Must be the design of them, they look smaller.
Slam it then, and it should help :"P
